frankly if it were mine and if runs great now then let it run .. the leaner the mixture the hotter the combustion which can burn valves. it might get better mileage after break-in but if 40 is what you got then 40 might be all you get.. Thats about what my vulcan gets. if you want really high MPG then you have to sacrifice speed .. a moped will get around 70MPG but it's not much fun and has no power to get out of the path of danger

Nope, with your attitude, you will be finding it yourself. Buy a manual. In my day no one used torque wrenches anyway!

Time to inspect valve train lash, too tight of adjustment will allow compression leakage.
