Hi Kumud:
On my KLR 650 the reserve is 0.9 US gallons.
There's really not much point in worrying about "non usable" amount.
What I would recommend, especially if you're going to do any remote riding, is to strap a spare gallon (or 2) to your bike, then go for a ride. When you run out of gas, reset the trip meter to zero, turn on your reserve, and ride until you run out of gas again.
You will now know how far you can go on your reserve. That's the first important part.
Now put you spare gas into the tank and ride off to find a fuel station. Fill the tank, set the trip meter to zero, make sure the fuel selector is set to "ON", and go for a ride until you run out of gas again.
You will now know how far you can go on a full tank before you have to rely on the reserve.
If you use this system it won't matter what machine you have, and depending on your riding technique, the distances will vary.
Gotta love riding!
cheers.
Hi Kevin:
Here's a link that should give you access to a lot of info.

In my experience, the "reserve" is typically just a lower outlet from the tank. I'd be checking all of the lights to try to find the function for the switch.
Are you using good quality premium gas with NO ethanol? Notice black smoke out of the exhaust or tail pipe sooty? I'm gonna take a shot and advise to check your timing, and be sure you're properly jetted..
No, there is only one gas tank on a scooter of that type. You ALWAYS use premium gas, correct? Also there is a small hole in the gas tank cap. Air must be able to enter this hole. Make sure it isn't clogged and air can enter. NEVER let your scooter run out of gas if you can help it. Make sure the gas filter is clean and installed correctly (follow the flow arrows printed on it). Hope this helps!
Hi it must be a blockage in the fuel tap there is a filter under the tap. Remove the tank and the tap clean the filter and blow through the two pipes turn the tap to on then blow through the long pipe and in reserve the short one. Good luck
not without modifications they are totally different one also has the fuel pump up inside the tank and the other has no pump.the front and rear fixings are totally different too.
