The alternator (stator) should pull right off unless the key is still in the shaft. Push the stator back on and feel for a raised portion on the shaft. If you need to you can rotate the shaft by hand to visually inspect.

2006 yaries removal of fan belt

- Loosen the alternator (generator) upper adjustable bracket bolt.
- Loosen the alternator lower bolt with 14 mm socket.
- Push the alternator toward the engine block to release the belt and take it out.
- Place the new belt on pulleys.
- Pull the alternator away from the engine block and make sure that the belt is aligned and seated properly on all the pulleys .
- Place a wooden hammer handle between the engine block and the alternator and pull the alternator away from the engine while
monitoring the tension of the belt.
- Do not over stretch the belt. Half inch of free play will be sufficient for the safer operation of the belt and bearings.
- Tighten the upper alternator bolt.
- Tighten the lower alternator bolt.

Seems to flood easily. turn choke on pull rope 1 time then set half choke and still have to pull rope 30 to 50 times to start also seems to be running lean even though ive adjusted carb several times,...

Check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Check the fuel lines for decay or other problems. Be sure that you have fresh fuel mix in the tank. Check the quality of the spark at the plug--it should be blue and snappy (plug gapped 0.020"). If weak looking, try a fresh plug first--if no help, remove the left engine case to expose the flywheel and ignition module. Turn the flywheel magnets just under the module poles, insert a thin business card into the pole gaps, loosen the module screws to allow the module poles to contact the magnets. Tighten the screws, and rotate the flywheel slightly to remove the card. Rotate the flywheel one full turn to make sure the gaps don't close up further. Reassemble and test for spark again. If ok, try for running the engine. Be sure the engine 4-strokes when running unloaded, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting by adjusting the H jet needle. Hope this helps!

I just purchased a 86 XLT and noticed it did not have a belt going from the alternator to the main engine pulley; it only had one to the smog pump, i've tried several belts but none seem to be the right...

hi, all belts sold are half an inch bigger then the smallest. if you have a 13 inch next size up 13 and and half. the alternator will adjust from 13 inch to 14 inch these have a adjustable bracket 2 bolts on the bottom and 1 on the top usually. if you slacken the bolts and take a lenth of the space with a peice of cord and get the nesrest to this. i am not saying you need this size. gerry

2004 2500HD-I want to replace my driver side door mirror-how do I remove the plastic panel on the inside of the door to get to the bolts without breaking it?

hi, this is a difficult one the problem is it does just pull of so dont be to worried about breaking it as if its going to break then its going to break, you can try placing a screwdriver about an inch down from the top then push it in about half inch then try prying it off.

It will come off and is just held in by rubber or plastic bungs so it does just pull off, dont be to worried if the plastic has gone weak due to sun then it may break but usually it will just pull off.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Cant get to belt tension to replace belt on a 96

dont know the socket size but you should be able to take a half inch breaker bar and the right socket and put it on the tensioner pulley and pull or push and it will release all the tension without taking off any major components

Object caught beneath the adigator

Remove the fabric softener by pulling and pushing to one side.
Once removed, there will be a half inch bolt that holds the agitator to the transmission shaft. Loosen the bolt and the agitator will lift off.
Older Hoovers have a set screw near the middle of the agitator.

If you need further assistance, let me know

Replace alternator

I have a 2001 Mazda Tribute. To change the alternator; the factory procedure at the dealership says to drop the sub-frame from under the front of the vehicle. Then everything is accessable. The tech at the dealership told me how they do it: (Its not easy!!) 1. Remove the right front tire 2. Remove dust pan from right front 3. Remove the brake caliper and caliper bracket 4. Remove the 2 bolts from the half shaft support bracket 5. Remove the half shaft axle assembly 6. Remove the serpentine belt 7. Remove the 3 bolts holding the alternator in place 8. Remove the 3 bolts holding the alternator mounting bracket 9. Remove the alternator mounting bracket 10. Remove the electrical connection on the alternator 11. Remove the alternator by turning the alternator until it will come out of the opening 12. Repeat process in reverse for installation. I did this twice in two weeks because of a bad alternator. The studs that are spot welded on the half shaft bracket will try to keep you from being able to remove the alternator. The left stud on the bracket popped out, when we were removing the alternator and it seemed to make it easier to get the alternator out. I just put a lock washer on the back side of the stud when I mounted the half shaft and it worked fine. Good luck
