The most likely problem is the battery. Take the battery out of your bike and take it to an automotive parts store or somewhere that can run a "load test" on the battery. Depending on what year and model bike you have, it could be a problem with the starter or the starter relay. If the "click" you hear is a very faint one, it could the the starter relay which is a plastic cube type device about one inch dimensionally. The same type of relays you find in todays automobiles. This device is activated by the "start" switch and it activates the solenoid section of the starter. If the "click" is a relatively loud click, it's probably the solenoid of the starter. If the battery is good but all you hear is the "click", the large copper contacts in the solenoid are probably burned and need replacing. The procedure for doing this is not difficult but varies with year and model bike. On the late model bikes, you take the 5-sided plate off the backside of the starter and pull the plunger and spring out. Inside, you'll see two large copper contacts. If they look burned and uneven across the face, they need to be replaced. Disconnect the battery and a kit is available that has everything in it that you need to rebuild the solenoid.
Good Luck
