SOURCE: Front fork oil capacity
Hi Lukepentcof.
its 350cc or 11.8 ounces in the Clyma book, but that's for a 1986 onwards model. you can vary the amount you use to suit your style of riding anyways. I doubt it would be that far from the mark.

SOURCE: what kind of oil does my 1988 Honda shadow 600
any good motorcycle motor oil should do in the 10w-30 range. some would use a synthetic, but i'd stick with a dino oil as it has had it most of its life. make sure its a motorcycle oil as automotive oil will not work (too slippery for the clutch).
SOURCE: 2004 honda shadow 600 VLX leaking fork seal bike
The seal under the dirt seal on the fork was leaking when I picked the bike up from the owner. left the fork oil under the dirt seal kept bouncing the forks up and down for 4 days the seal got soft from the fork oil so I pulled the dirt seal up then cleaned the fork oil under it with a rag then checked it for leaks then pushed dirt seal back down in the groove and its not leaking now 200 miles and still dry.
