Question about 2005 Kymco Venox 250

2007 Venox., Is there a gas filter on my bike? Where is it? My gas light comes on at around 40 miles, even though I just filled the tank. Colleen

Sounds like the fuel float to me you could have condensation or trash in tank or you may need to change the float there are no fuel filters on the Venox 250 it also could be the vacume line these are both under the tank and are easy to get to and remove the tank

Ride the bike until it starts "holding back" or whatever it does. If you think it's fuel level related. Disconnect the fuel line at either the carb or the tank. Turn the fuel on, or if you have one of those vacuum operated petcocks, apply vacuum with a hand operated vacuum pump to open the petcock and test the fuel flow. See if you have a full stream of fuel coming out of the hose. Then fill the tank, and retest. Notice the difference in the flow.

Now, if there is a noticable difference, what is causing it. It could be the petcock screen. I've seen the screens have a "too high" standing pipe for the main fuel supply. The screen has a "pipe" made into it that is usually about an inch above the petcock. Fuel flows down this pipe when the petcock in the "ON" position. When the fuel level in the tank falls below the height of this pipe, the engine sputters and sometimes stalls indicating that you need fuel. But, when you switch the petcock to "RES", another hole in the petcock, which does not have the standing pipe, will open up and allow you to use the remaining fuel in the tank. On a Sporty, this is usually somewhere around a gallon of fuel or about 40 miles or so.

One other thing that could be effecting this the level of the bike. If they has been lowered this could have altered the "level" of the bike. On a Sporty with it's small capacity tank and the shape of the tank, if the has been lower by as little as 1" in the rear, it will cause a problem such as this.

I notice that the bike is a 2010 model. If it's still under warranty, take it back to the dealer and let them figure it out. That's what a warranty is for. But, just in case, keep this things I've mentioned in mind.

The bike, while ridding just starts to sputter and shuts down. after a few moments it will start and run again. I have driven it in 4th gear at about 35 to 40 mph and it does fine. It seems to do this only...

I had something similar on a 600cc Honda. The choke cable had been caught under the tank and didn't retract properly. However if the bike has been sitting for a long time start by checking the plugs, then the air filter then the fuel filter if its easily accessible.

Ok that's the obvious stuff out of the way fuel starvation can occur in older Kawasaki's where the carbs ice up. But I suspect if your bike hasnt been run much either the plug leads or coils are shot or one or more of the main jets in the carbs is blocked.

I have a 2007 Pontiac G6 base sedan with 21,000 miles on it, and sure enough 2 months after my bumper-to-bumper warranty ended the check engine light came on earlier this month. I had the code run, it came...

It is either a fuel or spark issue. With fuel it could be a bad fuel filter, injectors or pump. With spark you could have a bad coil, wires or plugs. Checking the coil and plugs is the easiest so I would start there. Using a pair of spark plug wire pliers pull each wire from the coil one at a time and if you see a arc then the coil is good, if not then that would be your problem. Then pull each plug and see how the look. You can look online for pictures of what good a plugs look like. If they look bad then replace them and see if the code comes back. If none of that works then I would replace the fuel filter, it should be done between 25-30k miles anyways. If you can, have your fuel pump tested. You can also check the resistance one your injectors without having to pull them. Another good thing to try first is heet, in the red bottle. It will take any moister out of your fuel system which could be the problem.

My fuel warning light has come on and now will not turn off even though I have filled the tank. What would cause this?

Reset your trip gage back to 0, it should go out, but if it does not go out then it is a faulty sensor
and will need to be replaced . Try turning on your key dont start , just let it stay on and then hit your trip meter, watch it clear baclk to zero. Light should go off . If you still have problem and you
do not wish to fix it . Do this with the trip meter at zero run your bike 35 miles and then go put
gas in it . This will tell you how many miles you can get to your tank, and every time you fill up just reset back to zero. Oh and another thing , that bike requires PREIMIUM GAS only high test.

What is a Vapor Lock? How to fix it?

Google " vapor lock " and read the wikipedia definition. Your problem could be vapor lock but I think it is a vacuum problem. If no air can get into the gas tank then fuel can't get out. Most gas caps have a vent aspect built into the cap. Ride your bike with the cap loose. If the problem disappears you now know the source.

2007 kia rondo seems to use alot of gas

I have the same issue of low gas mileage. My 2008 Kia Rondo with V6 (2.7Lt) gets 20-21 mpg in average. Even for highway mileage, it is around 21-22mpg. Very poor gas mileage. Disappointed. I hope it would improve in the future.

Engine skips, won't go over 55 mph. Works fine below that.

Hi ..... Go through the above list, pay particular attention to fuel delivery ie blocked breather in tank, any filter fitted to tap or change in line filter if fitted. Easy to check, take off fuel delivery to carb (place container to catch fuel), start bike and fuel should come out a strong contant flow.

Gas Light comes on


The amount of mile that you can drive after your gas light comes on differs from car to car. Most cars have around 2 gallons in the reserve tank. Generally you should be able to go 50 miles after the gas light comes on, but that's pushing it. Of course sometimes you can go much more, but that depends on the type of driving you are doing (city or highway, is it a flat road & the condition of your car).

Sediments sink to the bottom of the gas tank & I don't like the thought that these get sucked into my engine, I think you would like to avoid as much as possible replacing your cars engine.

Calculate the size of your reserve tank

1) Read the car manual.
2) The moment your light comes on, fill the tank to the very top, now subtract the number of gallons you filled from the size of your gas tank, and you have the size of your reserve tank.

If you like adventures, and you know your car mpg, the moment the light comes on, bring your trip meter to zero, & drive the car till it comes to a stop. Now you know both the estimated miles you can go on your reserve tank & you can calculate its size. Make sure you have a can of gas in your trunk, to fill up after the car stops. This is the least recommended solution.

I don't recommend pushing it beyond 50 miles after the gas light comes on.
