Check you pick up. this is the part that sends the signal to the cdi saying spark now. on the right hand side of the motor you wires coming out. three of the same color and two different. I three yeloow ones are you charging wires from the stator. the others are the pick up wires. use your test light and probe the wires spin the motor and see if the light pulses. if so you know the pick up is working. I'm going to send you a link for the micro phish on your bike.

you can find all the parts and part numbers here along with prices. you can use this site to order parts or just have an idea of what it should cost if you want to the dealer.
Like me know what you find with the pick up.

2004 YAMAHA YFZ 450 Quad POPS OVERHEATS BREAKS UP AT HIGH RPM.

Question edited for full 'year make model (what it is).
Question moved from motorcycles to make model category.
Please don't type in all CAPS, it is considered SHOUTING and is harder to read.

'clips' and 'turns' it took me a while to realise you were talking about the carburetor and you were playing with the mixture screw and needle position! 4 turns out is a lot different to the factory setting which is 1 1/2 turns out.

If it is overheating it is running too lean. As you changed the stator, also consider the ignition timing. Popping can also be caused by the ignition failing under load, coil, lead and spark plug.

2007 Suzuki 250 quad battery is dead doesn't have kick start. Had it on trickle charger for four days still dead. Can I use a jump starter on it if not what are the recommended battery replacement

Hey Michele,, if the original battery lasted this long.. you are lucky,, just replace it. >>> Always use the exact replacement battery<<<<... your quad is designed to take the exact size and amperage rating,, trying to change this is inviting too much trouble,, When you get a new battery,, it will be charged unless you purchase one online that comes with the acid pack,, EITHER WAY - put the battery on the trickle charger for 48 - 72 hours BEFORE you use it.. This will extend the life of the battery a bunch and make it a stronger battery,, ..(this is from too many years of experience.)

There is no voltage specification listed in my manual but it does specify that the charge coil resistance test should be between 270 - 330 ohms and the pulse(pickup) coil should test from 171 - 209 ohms, figures listed are for coils around room temperature of 20 degress celcius

I have a 2005 yamaha yfz450 when i turn the ignition on the nutreul light comes on so the batteries charged then when i press the start buttun nothing happens... i checked the plug and there was no spark...

hi,because the light comes on,it doesnt necessarily mean the battery is charged, the neutral light draws very little and will come on at about 3 volts you need at least 12.5 ,so check the voltage across the battery and charge if needed, hope this helps..cheers

Yamaha big bear no spark

I'm not familiar with all quads and all the kill switch locations. Does it have a tip-over kill switch? Is it working? Is the quad in neutral? Is the neutral light on? Many engines will not spark if the neutral light is not on. Are the headlights off when starting?

How good is your battery? A low battery can kill spark. Test for spark by grounding the threads of the plug against the cylinder. Have a friend kick the bike while you watch for spark. Assuming no spark, then check all the kill switches with an Ohmmeter to be sure each switch is working properly. Sometimes a switch goes bad. Try disconnecting all kill switches then check spark.

Check the wiring harness, even under the gas tank and seat. Are all the connectors clean and with a tight connection? Any abraded wires? Check the ignition switch also. The switch can go bad as well. Are the flywheel coils good > is the battery getting a charge?

Still no spark? If CDI then get it checked.
If points then file or replace them along with a new condensor and reset the gap then time the engine. >> I hope this helps.
