SOURCE: starter removal on 2004 ultra classic harley davidson

Disconnect battery , remove the outer primary case, pull back the lock tab on the starter jackshaft, unbolt the retainer screw, then remove the two starter bolts from the right side, sometimes you need to loosen the oil tank mounts to get at these, slip the starter and coupler out as a unit, replace the coupler and jackshaft the same way they came out when the new starter goes in, install bolts , retighten the jackshaft bolt and bend over the retainer, install and fill primary case, connect battery thats it buddy

How do you remove the horn

Hi, Michael first check for continuity at the power and ground wire at the horn, then check for continuity at the horn button, back in the day there was a small adjustment screw on the back of the horn, by turning it one way or the other you could set the limit on how much the diaphragm vibrated. How do i install wolo horn on jeep with two factory horns?

If you are trying to make it work simultaneously with stock horns, I suggest you wire it in through a relay. Without a relay you will be placing too much of a load on the horn circuit.
A relay is typically used to control a component that draws high amperage. The relay allows full power to the component without needing a switch that can carry the amps. The switch only controls the relay. The relay then provides a direct connection to the battery. It should be noted that either the power(86) or ground(85) in the relay control circuit can be switched. In the case of a horn, the horn button would be used to switch the ground lead(85) and power(86) would be provided directly from the fuse box.
This is a typical wiring diagram for a standard relay installed for headlights, horn, fuel pump, electric fan, etc. If the relay has a 5th terminal, it is not used.

Horn doesnt work

Check power to the unit and power coming out of it. The pumps go bad on the horn like that a lot.If you have access to an air compressor then run air through the line to the horn portion and see if it works. If it does then more than likely it's the compressor unit being bad.

I installed a wolo air horn 419 and when I push the horn button all I here is the compressor and no horn.

It is possible that you may have reversed the polarity on the compressor; it may be "pulling" air instead of blowing it out. Remove the air hose from the compressor and put your thumb over the air outlet while pressing on the horn switch. If you don't feel air blowing out, reverse the positive & negative wires going into the compressor and repeat the test. The air horns should work at this time.

Note: Always install a relay on this type of horn system; the compressor puts a high amount of load on the horn switch if you don't.

Have 1999 ultra classic and cannot keep a horn working. Installed new one and it worked then started to ride and it just squeeks any help appreciated

To be perfectly honest, Harley Davidson has never had a horn that was worth the effort it takes to put one on your bike. The problem is vibration. A horn has an adjuster on it that adjusts a set of contact points. This adjustment is very touchy to get it where the diaphragm in the horn just vibrates. You can try adjusting the horn but if that doesn't work, I'd go to an aftermarket type air horn.

Good Luck
