Posted on Jun 10, 2011

My son bought a Johny Pag spyder used,1400 miles. Yesterday it got stuck in 2nd gear and won't come out. The clutch cable works. What could he look for. I believe he took the cover plate off but doesn't see anything wrong.

If you forgot to refill motoroil the motor can be damaged. you can check in the clutch box to see if anything is stuck or broken. Good luck.

How do i do a Starter clutch replacement on a 2009 johnny pag spyder

Order a new one. Make sure it's the right one . There is 2 different models of them youll want the one without the treaded bolt holes and also has countersunk holes that go in about 1/2" so the gear plate can sit flush against it. I got mine from motoboss on ebay

Clutch won't release

Start with inspecting the clutch handle for any obstructions or rust.
Lubricate the clutch cable at the handle.
Follow the cable down and look for and pinching or damage. If you can follow the end of the cable to the actuall clutch mecaniism, inspect the area for clearance.
If you can disconnect the cable from the clutch mecanisim and test the clutch handle to see if the cable moves freely.
Manually try to engange an clucth with the engine off.
If it won't move, time to diassemble the clutch.

I have a 2002 suzuki 1400cc and I am wanting to replace the clutch becasue when it gets hot the bike won't pull its self. It has 12k miles on it and the clutch works well enough when cool, but stops...

Please dont be offended but i ride and know a clutch should last for many many more miles. Have you properly adjusted it. If im not mistaken its a mechanical clutch and its easely adjusted at the cable. Good luck

My sons 2001 Eclipse spyder was driving fine, then one day last week he said his clutch was "slipping". I drove it and it would shift fine but once in gear it would act like it was in nuetral...

From what you're describing - you're definitely going to replace the clutch disc. If it was slipping as bad as you're indicating then additional damage could have been done to the flywheel, slave cylinder or master cylinder. The extent of the damage (present or not) won't be visible until the transmission is removed to examine the clutch disk/pressure plate, etc.

Good Luck.
