Question about 2005 Suzuki RM-Z 250

2 Answers

I recently bought a 05' RM-Z250, (used) had some top end noise , I changed oil and cleaned filter, the top end noise is not as bad , but it is there . most likely looking at a top end rebuild right? also after it warms up it wont idle right , have adjusted the throttle to the right idle but then it wont start , or stay running after it is warmed up . is that due to the valves being out of spec? please help before i go blow money on useless part that wont fix the problems. Thanks kevin

Try cleaning out first the carb. This may also be a problem with the choke and the jet for the idle. If spraying carb cleaner does not help you may want to do further cleaning by taking the carb out. You can do further inspection as well if you need parts to be replaced.

I do not have the manual with me but I do know the compression ratio if you need it, it is 13.41:1

Before i spent any money on parts, I would check compression. Check compression cold and warm. Be careful when working when warm as you could burn yourself badly.

I will look in the morning and see if I can find the specs for you. If I can, I will post a link.

    Thanks, Jim

I recently got a oil and filter change now i hear knocking noise

If the oil has been changed, why are you putting more oil into the engine? Does the engine use/burn oil, or have an oil leak? If you have none of these problems, then you may be overfilling the engine which is just as bad as no oil.
