Hi, im not quite sure which part i need so any help wold be good. ive got a kawasaki zrx1200-s (2003) which will not start, when i turn the ignition key to on, some times the dash lights come on and some times they dont, when they do they are very dim(i have recharged the battery using an optimate charge) when i press the start button all that happens is that i get a click from from a small black box under the seat next to the fusebox and then the dash lights go out, if you then move the gear shifter up and dome sometimes they come back on, but the same thing happens when you try to start it again, also the indicators and light will not work either. sorry for the long discription, just thought it my help. thanks Dave

HI Dave, according with you discription of the problem (by the way very good explained) look like you have a problem with the wiring conection in some parts or the batery is no good (you don't say if it is new).If the batery is good then start removing every conection and clean it well (w40 is a very good cleaner) dry proply and back assembly the conection. First with the cable from the point of the batery to the main switch with all parts in betewen, like the black box you say (that is probably a relay). After this is finish, or before if you like, check the earth cable, remove it from both ends, at the batery point and at the point where is conected to the engine, I think may be it, the earth cable is the main cause of the problem. Be pacient and do step by step and I'm sure you will resolve the problem. If still it is no enough to resolve the matter, and you consider I'm of value to help you to resolve the problem, do not exitate and send me a message and I will help you with real plessure.
Cheers Oscar

Hi I have a 1999 pontiac sunfire im having trouble starting it when i turn the key the starter dosent seem to be engaging and the motor does not turn over ive bump started it and the car runs fine im just...

Hi there skate4life! The two thing that could be causing this is the starter or the ignition switch in the steering column. If you have a test light turn the ignition switch to the "on" position then test the hot wire on the starter. If it lights up the starter is bad. If it doesnt light up it means that the ignitions switch is bad and is not sending power to the starter. i hope that this sheds some light on your situation. Please leave positive feedback if this solution helps.

Have a good day!

Im not getting any spark from one of side of my 2 cyclinder kawasaki ninja 500 EX. Its an 1987. I have replaced the plug wires and the pickup coils. I switched the coil packs and both work. Im just not...

Hi,

To my knowledge, a 1987 Kawasaki EX500 uses a TCBI with digital advance to fire the ignition coils upon receipt of pulse from the trigger/pickup coils.

Since the pickup coils are new, and you have swapped the ignition coild, replace the high tension wires and checked/replace the spark plugs, the the only cmponent left is the CDI (electronic ignition system).

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
