I really doubt that the oil filter housing could be cracked by having a new filter put on. The spin on filter's sealing "O" Ring was probably pinched or left off or mis-aligned causing it to leak. With the proper "O" Ring, and seated correctly the spin on filter only has to be hand tight. If it is leaking, take it back and complain.

Changed oil filter on my 3.0 terrano now a have oil coming from the housing and from a pipe behind engine could it be wrong filter thanks

Some engines use a 2-piece oil filter head that needs special consideration when changing the filter. Some others arrange for the filter to be attached to an oil cooler.

Sometimes the oil cooler attachment is inadvertently loosened during oil filter removal.

It could of course be the wrong filter.

2005 GMC Duramax, won't restart when when warm it has only happened a few times lately. Used the primer on the fuel filter and it starts. We have changed the fuel filter. Today it stalled when coming...

Make sure the old filters rubber seal didnt stick to the filter housing when you removed it. While you have the filter off clean up the housing to filter seal. Ut some engine oil on the filter rubber seal befre putting it back on. Costs nothing and just takes a half hour of your time.

How do i repair oil filter housing leak?

The oil is most likely leaking from the oil cooler seal. The oil cooler is the square aluminum piece that the oil filter screws onto. To replace the seal, remove the filter, remove both coolant hoses that attach to the cooler, remove the nut that secures the cooler to the block and slide the cooler off the tube. Replace the rubber o-ring seal which is available at the VW dealer. It's inexpensive. Replace everything in reverse order. Good luck!

I have a 2004 Nissan Altima and i had my oil changed and the service guy told me that i had a small leak around the oil filter. He actualy said it was inside the housing, it could easily be replaced, even...

I think he is saying you have a gasket leak at the filter housing, you will need proper tools to do this and a catch can of sort when you remove the oil filter cause you will have oil drop down.

I would say do not tackle this problem if you have no tools and are uncertain on how to approach this repair on your own, take it to a Repair Shop that you know or a referral of a good repair shop in your area.

Oil leaking from crack in houseing attached to back end of gearbo

If you can see the crack plainly, you will need to have a transmission shop fix it for you or your isuzu dealer, good luck.
but it may have just the rear seal on the transmission started leaking, and where the castings come together, looks like a crack, and just replace the seal.
good luck;)

A8L Oil and filter change

It's not that big of a deal. The air box comes out by removing two screws and a couple of hoses. Once it is out the top of the canister is easily accessible.

How do I change oil filter cartridge on 1995 BMW 325is?

I would first clean up the oil around the housing with brake cleaner. Take the car for a quick run and see where the oil is coming from.

If the housing looks good, then simply take the cap off of the oil filter housing. Remove the existing filter and discard the o-rings. Make sure you lubricate the new o-rings with some oil before installation. This could be why it is leaking now. It may have been overlooked.

Once the o-ring is seated drop in the new filter and replace the housing cap. Tighten the cap to 18 ft lbs. Start the engine, making sure the warning light goes out, showing you have oil pressure.

If your oil is that new then I would not bother with a changeover.

I hope this helps. It is an easy filter to change. BMW doesn't make too many things easy.

Good luck
