The cx500 from 1981-1984 used 10w40 se type oil, the quantity is 2and a half litres (2,5) any good engine oil of the specific 10/40 grade would be fine, most modern oils are universal, specific types like SE and SG etc have become superceeded, three litres will provide a small amount for topping up, GREAT BIKE

10W-40, 2.8 quarts from draining, 3.6 quarts if you disassembled the engine.

What is part no for cx500 custom 1981 synthetic bung washer for spark plug drain hole

Just got cx500 custom 1981 leaking oil when i start up from small hole on side of cylinder what do i do

If the oil leak is coming out of the spark plug drain hole , the inner valve cover seal is leaking or not installed correctly. Take out the two bolts holding on the valve cover and remove the cover. If the valve cover gasket has silicone on it , pick off all the silicone and put the gasket and cover back on. That should fix the problem. Silicone on the type of gasket can make it leak. If the gasket is hard or cracked replace the soft rubber gasket and put it on by itself with no extra sealant.

Have a 1982 cx-500c I'm getting a noise that kind of sounds like pins rattling around in the main fuse area. Also pulling in cluch and I think it is gone.

All Honda clutches rattle when you idle.Pull in the clutch lever and it will go away. I have owned a dozen different Honda's (100,000 mile on one CX500D alone) and the clutches all rattled at idle. All of them. Get used to it , I am afraid there is little that can be done about it.

What type of oil do i use in a 1982 cx500 c?

Not to start a debate, but you're going to want to stay away from synthetics in your bike. It's a wet clutch system that has the potential to slip if synthetic oil is used.

I prefer to use Mobil Clean 5000 10w40 but many other respected people in the cx/gl community love Rotella of the same weight.

You can get a copy of the manual for your bike here

I have a honda cx500 and i keep geting fuel in the oil. I have rebuilt the carbs and the pitcock seems to be working.

Sounds like a float still sticking. Does fuel drip from the petcock when off, and the fuel lines off of it?

When i accelerate hard on my cx500 eurosport the clutch goes solid and i cannot change gear until i slow down ,any ideas ?

Change the oil and oil filter. Ride the bike for 50 miles or so then change th oil again but w/o another filter. Dirt and grit in the oil is making the clutch grab and not fully disengage. Changing oil will flush the gearbox. 10w40 motor oil.
