SOURCE: How do I change the oil seal on the water pump on

Hi,

This is a mechanical oil seal. In order to replace it, you will have to remove the right hand side engine cover. The seal is located in this cover.

If you are not an experienced mechanic then you should take your bike to a dealer.
NB use the genuine part for this bike.

Good luck

Jon

SOURCE: I have a 95 yz 125 head and 98 yz 125 bottom end.

You have a 50/50 chance that they will work okay. All the mounting holes need to line up and the cooling holes as well. Get a head gasket for the '98 and see if all lines up. Will the exhaust pipe fit the '95?

SOURCE: how do i decode yamaha yz 125 engin id number

You don't decode it. It is only a production run series number. Mororcycles are like cars in that respect. It is the frame number, AKA the "VIN number", is what carries all the information. Call a dealer with the frame number and he can tell you year, paint color, specific model and more. They may have a problem if the bike is too old. Yamaha changed to a newer code system a few years back.

I have a yamaha yz426f that leaks water all the time from a small hole in the right hand side of the head whats the fix? it starts has awsome power but obviously needs looking at

I have a 2001 YZ426F and I had the same problem. The reason why is leaking because the water pump seals needs replacement and so the water pump shaft. You can still ride it, but you run the risk of overheating your bike. I recommend replacement of the water pump seals and shaft and you are good to go!

My 2000 Model YZ 426 is leaking coolant fast from under the water pump. Is the problem likely to be some sort of seal needing replacing or something bigger?

If it is leaking directly under the water pump then the water pump stem seal is bad and the water pump will have to be replaced.

Thanks for using FixYa!

I have a 1998 yz 125 and im finding water in the gear case and i replaced both seals in the water pump where could it be coming from

If we are to assume it's coolant and not water being introduced through the crankcase vent hose, there are only two possible places for this transfer to occur - the water pump seals or the clutch case cover gasket. Those are the only two direct interfaces between the coolant and the transmission fluid that exist on that bike.

You replaced the seals - did you replace the bearing too?
