The chain cover is there to protect the chain from collecting dirt and and to save anything getting stuck in the chain eg. cloth which you are wearing.
The chain cover also protects the chain because when you leave the chain open to the elements you have to constantly oil the chain which dries out due to dirt, and in turn when you oil the chain too much the oil flows off the chain which would get on clothes etc.
Removing the chain cover does not damage the chain but the maintenance sure does increase trust me i have done it and I know, hope this helps

Time chain tensior how to take tha time chain off

Im presuming you already have the timing chain cover off. To remove timing chain you must remove bolts holding the gear on as well and tensioner. These must all come off together. Also must be kept together while putting them back on

Bajaj discover 135cc

sounds like the chain has stretched easy way to check this is grab the chain at centre point of rear sprocket and try to pull it away from the sprocket if it does move away this is your problem, one advise when replacing and checking tension it should be done while on both wheels and body weight on the bike to take up the difference of the arc on rear suspension so there is a possibility that your chain may be too tight both will cause excess noise

Chain broke im replaceing it how do i get the new chain thru the transmition over the front sporocket

You will have to remove the front sprocket cover, best check carefully the chain did not cause any damage inside the cover to the crankcase when it broke, also check the sprocket for signs of ware as this may contribute to early failure of the new chain, paul

Im changing head gasket on 1988 mitsu triton 2.6.have the head back on and i had the cam chain wheel under tension but i think it has slipped.i kept the cams and evrything in place nothin has moved cept...

a good idea to keep stuff from slipping is to put zip ties on the chain and cam gears so you dont have to question if it slipped or not,i would recommend finding the tensioner, relieve the tension and see if you can get it back on,it might not have slipped, just when you loosened the gears and took them off,the tensioner went full tension and its probably too much to just force the gears back in place-
