I think your charging system is not working. Check the voltage of the battery. Charge it until it reaches 14 volts or so remove charger, start engine and check voltage again. Must be around 14 volts when RPM is at 3ooo.
Can go from there. Troubleshooting is not too difficult.

The primer pump light on my 2004 ultra

I think you mean the engine management light. I do not know of a 'pump primer light' on any Harley. If this light is coming on when driving, and staying off when idling, then you have a problem which needs investigating. Golden rule, red light on - stop motor or damage iminent. Orange light on - needs looking at as soon as possible. check for historic DTC codes using speedometer and repost with these or bring bike to dealer.

I have a 1994 honda vt1100 and i have to jump it everytime i ride. i ride for a bit of time. when i turn it off the bike wont start. any ideas please help

Most certainly the starter motor. Either brushes or bushes. Suggest you remove the starter and have it overhauled. The fact that you can jump start it with no problem show it is only in the starting up, hence the starter motor.

Check if the charging system works ok.
At idle with lights off, you should see 13.5-14.5V on battery's terminals and 0.5V less with high beams on, at idle speed as well as at 4000rpm.
Use a fresh good verified battery to take the readings.

Hi
Some thing is expanding with heat or moving slightly to cause a dead short
if the solenoid click when the fuse blows I would suspect the starter motor brushes / wiring, insulating washer on lead from solenoid or the starter motors internal components

Voltage problem when running bike

The voltage regulator should present 13.5 to 14.5 volts at the battery to charge it properly (engine at fast idle). I'm not sure if the V regulator is adjustable or not. If not, then it probably needs to be replaced. The alternator appears to be trying to do it's job, although it may have an open diode or winding if the alternator is 3-phase. An oscilloscope is the best tool to check for all three phases working properly. Good luck!

Battery drained while riding

Sounds like you either have corroded wires going to your battery or your alternator is not properly charging the battery. Get the bike to an autozone and ask them to put their tester on it.
