Change your fuel filter. Running the tank empty will pull any sediment that has accumulated in the bottom of the tank into the fuel system. There is a good chance your filter is clogged and not letting enough fuel to the engine.
Dirty air filter, dirty throttle body...try 2 bottles of gas line fuel injector cleaner...has your car been parked for awhile? Heet gas additive will work on any low gas tank sludge that you may have. Hope this helps.
Have you used fuel system cleaner in a while? Sometimes just dirty injectors can cause this. Also have you changed the air filter in the last year? Be sure to spray clean the throttle body when taking apart...These routine services can help wonders...as well as mileage:) Hope this helps. I like STP super concentrated in the black bottle...
I show a fuel filter for the 8 cyl engine so I assume there is one for the 6 cyl too. Around 2004 or 2005 GM stopped using replaceable filters. I would start with replacing the filter and running a few cans of injector cleaner thru the gas. You may have picked up some dirt from the bottom of the tank.
Take the battery in and have it tested to make sure it is fully charged and is holding that charge and that all the cells are good....letting a car sit for any length of time without starting it and letting it run for a bit is bad news. Batteries will go bad. Gasoline left to sit in a car will "go bad" and can leave a coat of varnish on sensitive injectors, fuel lines, etc... Water and debris can ruin the fuel filter. Check the battery first, put some injector cleaner in the gas tank and you may also want to spray the throttle body with a recommended cleaner before trying to start again. It may also help to pull your spark plugs and clean or replace them. Hope this helps. Good luck.
DO A LITTLE TUNE UP.CHANGE SPARK PLUGS.CHANGE FUEL FILTER.CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS.FILL FUEL TANK UP.AND ADD A BOTTLE OF FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER IN FUEL TANK.WHEN YOU DRIVE CAR AROUND.THE INJECTOR CLEANER WILL CLEAN OUT FUEL INJECTORS.IF CAR STILL RUN ROUGH IN DRIVE.YOU COULD HAVE INTAKE LEAK.
change the filter first. IF the pumpwas bad it wouldnt start at all. It could be going bad but the only way to really test it is to pull your gas tank and at that rate you may as well replace it.
you could have a clogged injector causing the lack of fuel as well. you can try injector cleaner, Lucas is my personal preference I use it at every fill-up. 4-6oz per tank of gas depending on your tank size.
It sounds like your fuel filter is clogged. This often happens after you run out of gas because your engine sucks up all the gas in the bottom of the tank where dirt and debris have been collecting for years. I recommend changing your fuel filter and if that doesn't fix your problem, add some fuel injector cleaner to your gas.
