1986 kawasaki GPz 1000 RX Logo

Goodafternoon. Does anybody know the float height setting of my GPZ 1000 RX / ZX1000 A. from 1986? My dutch translated manual gives me 17mm, but since it doesn't get any fuel now at all, I don't trust this 17mm anymore. Thanks, Frank from the netherlands

17 is correct Frank mesured from the base of the carburetor. Meaning the flat surface that the bowl bolts to, from the part of the float furthest away. With the needle just touching the seat.
If you have set this correctly and are not getting fuel the next thing to check is that the needle and seat are not binding with a bit of grit (rarely happens) or that there is a problem with the petcock or filter. If it is vacume operated try sucking the vacume tume and see if fuel runs out of the hose into a container at a decent flow rate. If not vacume operated check the flow into a container when the tap is turned on. lastly check the fuel line does not have a kink or collapse caused by inferior line type or sharp bend.
Hope you get it going soon mate.

Anybody got a float height for a '95 GPZ1100E ?

18.5 mm from card body to top of float.
Just done this myself and check afterwards with pipe up the outside of the carb - worked beautifully.

Starts to turn over then load clunk and stops rock bike in gear and it will free motor and start

Sounds like there is a tooth or several from the gears floating about somewhere in the engine/gearbox.
A strip down job I would say.

I have a 87 gpz 1000r won't run.

if you have gas in the oil then your floats (one or more) in your cabs are stuck.Your carbs need cleaned. After cleaning make sure floats move freely. Definatly change the oil. If you dont change oil you could dammage the crank bearings.

I need the torque settings for the clutch spring bolts on a gpz 1000rx

A service manual is a valuable tool with an aging bike. I suggest the dealer/mfr. or Clymer books. In the meantime, go to the library reference section...646 stacks should have what you need.

Hi does the gpz 900r have the same crankshaft as the gpz 1000 rx . Thanks

No but there is not much between them if i remeber right the cam lobes are slightly bigger which would give you more air and fuel which maybe be detrimental. check cam lobe sizes in the haynes manual for 900 and 1000 and compare

Kawasaki 87 stickers

RdDecals.com in Canada has complete sets or individual sticker pairs including pinstripes for the US Ninja version, but not the GPZ. So, with one of these kits, you could get all of the right stickers except the GPZ (comes with Ninja) stickers on the upper cowl, and the 1000RX for the belly pan (comes with 1000R). They have stickers for other older Kawasaki's as well.
