Are you sure it was a full NEW toner cartridge?? Not an old one you had lying around.
If it was a new one the next question line goes as follows.... the machine will say in the display to "Rplace toner soon"...that dosn't mean its empty and to replace it..that means itsLOW and you should have a new toner cartridge "on-hand" because it will soon stop printing and say "REPLACE TONER". At that time the toner cartridge should be replaced, when it is installed a "fuse" on the cartridge blows and resets the toner light on the display. If you installed the toner cartridge when the display was saying "replace toner soon" you have blown the fuse in the new cartridge, now the machine has run about another 100 copies and says "replace toner"....but you now can't reset the light because the fuse is already blown because you may have replaced the cartridge too early!!! WHAT CAN YOU DO if that is the case...you can replace the fuse on the cartridge..its pretty easy to see, just replace it with another mini-fuse of the same rating written on the existing fuse..then put the cartridge in again..the fuse will blow, reset the light and away you will go. When all else fails read the operators manual.

Getting unknown toner level message on a Dell1710. Will not print anything. Thanks Owen Locke

Remove the toner cartridge from the printer and shake it. Does it have toner in it? Can you hear anything or does it feel heavy enough to believe that it is not empty?

Shaking also resituates the toner in the cartridge.

Turn the printer off. Put the toner cartridge back in it. Disconnect the printer from the computer and unplug the power supply for about 2 minutes. Plug the power back in first but dont turn it on yet. Connect to the computer and then turn the printer on. See if this gets rid of your error code.

If it doesnt get rid of the code, then replace the toner cartridge.

The problem is that the printer is not registering any toner inside the cartridge although the computer chip on the cartridge is saying that it is fairly new and should not be empty yet. When this happens, there is no other choice but to replace it.

I put a toner in 30 days ago and it is saying "toner empty". I can see the Toner still on the roll.

Make sure the toner is full. In the middle of the cavaty where the toner sits is a window. Place a back tape over it and see if the machine statis changes.
If if does not change, you may need a new toner sensor.
This is located on the bottom of the machine in the paper feeder.
This is an involved job.
If you are not able to preform this service, a Xerox service call might be required to preform this service.
Good luck.

Put in second toner and machine is still saying toner empty

If you are using refilled cartridges those errors are common, Samsung has an eeprom on the cartridge keeping track of usage and you need a new chip from the refillers. If you are using OEM cartridges you need to clean the contacts inside the machine that the cartridge connects to and wipe the contacts on the cartridge before installing, Otherwise a shop repair for the CRUM circuits.

Xerox Phaser 6110 claims new toner cartridge is empty

Could be many things...depends on the exact nature of the problem. Where the machine states "Invalid Toner" either the machine itself or the toner cartridge may be the wrong "region". i.e. has been sold in the wrong country..the initial toners will work but as soon as you put new ones in they will give this message. If the machine is still displaying "out of toner" then either the toner cart itself is faulty (assuming they are original Xerox carts) or the Image Unit could be faulty (the bit they plug into). Failing that, it will be a faulty Main PCB. The Toners on these have a crum chip, so they cannot be just re-filled and some that may seem "compatable" will not work either.....

New cartiage/not reconized

It says there is no cartridge, or does it say that the cartridge is empty?

First, you must realize there are two cartridges. A drum and a toner. If you bought a new toner, pulled out the drum and put the new toner in, you have pulled a DOH! You can't just put the toner in. You have to take your old drum cartridge, remove the toner portion and install the new toner into your old drum and then install the entire assembly back into the machine. I hope you didn't throw your drum out thinking it was all one cartridge (I've seen it happen). This is where reading the owner's manual helps.

If not, then one of the contacts must have been damaged. Remove the cartridge and look inside the machine. See if you can find any of the metal contacts on the side of the inner chamber that is bent or damaged and try to bend it back.

Check the drum and make sure none of the contacts are damaged.

If the unit is still saying Toner Empty, try this. On the left side of the toner there will be a while lever in a semi-circular notch.

Unplug the unit, use a small screwdriver or a key to push that white lever back to the front of the notch. Put the drum and toner back into the machine and plug the power back in.

Searching on Google on how to access the fuse I found a page that showed you how to reset the counter without replacing the fuse. It was simple, access the TECH menu and select NEW CARTRIDGE. Here are the instructions:
[menu] - [#] - 1934 - [menu]
Then select “NEW CARTRIDGE”

Restart Printer to get out of the TECH menu.
