Well, the new plugs have suppose to get the right GAP, if ur problem is just the idling, just adjust ur carbs idling screw, move it counter clockwise until a reasonable RPM is reach!

Hoipe the idles up everything!

Adjust the accelerator cable, and check if there is something that tensioning( pulling ) the cable, the vacuum hose must have been disconnected( small hoses ).

Double check everything, u might have disconected something!

Done a tune up on my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2 liter magnums and it was running pretty good and now it's spitting and missing and sounds like Hell?? I went over everything and the plugs are tapped right.What...

It was running pretty good before you did the tune up? You changed the plugs, but did you change the wires? New plugs with old wires can cause problems - I had this same issue with my Dodge 360 many years ago. Also, check, double check, and then check again that you have the correct wire on the correct plug. Follow them all the way from the distributor cap and verify that they are in the correct firing order sequence.

I'm having rough idle and smoke all of a sudden with my golf mk4 The oil warning lights up in dash. Oil level ok. Spark plugs not burning well. Replace spark plugs, changed oil filter, changed

Smoke is not a good sign. Running rough is not a good sign. Oil light not a good sign. You could have a combination of bad things, most likely expensive. Suggest professional help. Smoke can be bad rings or holed piston. Low oil pressure can be bad bearing or oil pump.

Changed oil in bmw e36 now spark plug socket and spark plug are showing engine oil (old) Shop gave me wrong oil filter so have not started car yet as I do not have the right filter Also I changed air

IF there is a sleeve around the spark plugs then when replacing the plugs replace the seal under that sleave as well or rocker cover oil will leak out past the plug base.. If you want the correct oil filter you may have to buy genuine . Run fault codes to find the reason for rough idle . It may be a vacuum hose is off or cracked or loose.

I have a 1988 F150 with a 302, the truck has a hard time finding a Idle

Many idling problems such as yours can be resolved by simply having the car tuned up ie , new air filter, change all spark plugs, oil change, etc... you'd be surprised by the outcome! Good luck.

Depening on the mileledge on the vehilce if it isn,t a high mileledge vehicle ,End was not (Abuse) It probally needs a good majour tune up. Change the spark plugs end (Wires)

My car idles really high and drives on its own up to 40 miles an hour. I changed the tps; the spark plugs; the valve gasket cover cause oil leaked out into spark plugs and new plug wires changed the fuse...

Sounds like the AIC...Air Idle Control is stuck...usually located on the plenum just past the air intake hose/line...you can try cleaning the AIC before replacing it...Hope this helps.

When it idles the vehicle shakes. it idles rough

It sounds like there may be a cylinder misfire... .basically a misfire is when a cylinder does not fire correctly, This can be caused by faulty spark plugs, coil packs, dirty fuel injectors, clogged fuel filter,or bad cylinder compression. When was the last time you gave it a tune-up? I would lean towards changing the spark plugs myself. good luck

1988 jeep wrangle

Check your spark plugs. Without good spark plugs the ignition won't ignite. Just go look for Jeep spark plugs at like AutoZone and they are real cheap. To change them you will need a long socket wrench to twist them out and change each one.

Hey, I just had the same rpm surging problem... really bad all of a sudden over the last couple days. The check engine light came on today and it's idle changed from big time shaking to barely a pulse. Drove okay on the highway on our way to my favorite auto repair. A diagnostic showed that the third spark was dead and upon the advice of a senior mechanic  - spark plugs were changed along with the coil. I dunno if that was smart on my part I could have tried just the plugs first. But I figured I have never changed any of these before and it is getting older. So with a new coil, spark plugs and minus $375 from my world - ... but it's running pretty well now.
