I got a 1982 yamaha virago xv920 it won't start back up after the motor is hot

Check your switch wires are all ok ,,
Then check the carbs are getting fuel when you have the problem... then make sure your air filter its clean ,,if it is not clean replace it for a stock filter for your bike,,,as long as you have fuel and air you should be in business...

Also buy yourself a workshop manual for your bike pal i highly recommend it

You can then check your valve clearances this my also be the culprit to your issues....hope this helps

Hesitates and backfires

hi the air box and exhaust restrict the air movement through the cyclinders to match the jets in the carbs. i have bikes that you can remove baffles or airbox with no problem, others are so finely tunes that it is impossible to run the bike without the restriction. the easy option would be to get a jet and air filter kit. then if you need to restrict air flow any (hopefully you wont need to) you could very slightly raise the inlet/outlet valve gaps to the maximum amount which will open the valves for a slightly shorter time. you could also restrict the exhaust by using large washers on the exhaust gaskets. similar to those used to restrict a bike.

My bike's air filter has gone bad. I wanted to explore the working of air filter before installing it myself. Does anyone knows good article/website where-in I can explore more about the working o

An air filter is just a sieve to remove any particles that may cause damage to the engine. They don't go bad they just get blocked by all the bits they filter out. If you want to know how your bike works and what each bit does, you should buy the relevant manual from a company such as Haynes or Clymer. These also contain the instructions on just about anything you might want to do to look after your bike- also the general bike maintenance instructions will apply to all bikes.

My bike is running really rich and keeps fouling out the plugs. Whats the problem with my bike??

Dirty air filter is the most likely cause. Will your bike run leaner with air filter removed? DId you recently move to a different elevation? air fuel ratio needs adjustments in that case. Have you recently installed aftermarket intake or exhaust components? if so the air / fuel ratio adjustment is also required. To check for leaner running with air filter removed, you should buy some new spark plugs so you can see condition of plug correctly on the new plugs. First run the bike at 1/4 throttle for 15 minutes and remove plug and inspect. install new plug and repeat test for 1/2 throttle, 3/4 throttle, and full throttle, replacing the plug prior to each run. The throttle positions can be marked off with white tape and black tick-marks. you will put a white piece of tape on your rotating throttle with a single black tick mark and then you will take a second piece of tape on the stationary part of oyur handle bar and put a mark for 0 and full , then half, 1/4 and 3/4. these marks will help you maintain postion during the tests. The plug conditoin will reveal which fuel circuit you should address for your fouled plugs.

I m having ug4 bajaj pulsar 150cc bike,but i want to change the filter,so can i replace filter by k&n air filter?

Yes, K&N has applications for many bikes. If not the one for your bike, you can buy a universal one.
You'll need to measure the size of the carburetor opening . They have all different sizes and shapes
Try looking up Tucker Rocky or K&N's website.

Change airfilter

1. Buy a new air filter for bike type.
2. Open your rider seat and near the fuel tank ens you will see a black air box.
3. Undo the srew/bolt, you can see the old air filter.
4. It should be held down by a pair of wire clamps, just squeeze them and pull the filter out.
5. Reverse process for installation.

Is it possible to fit k & n air fitters to a yamaha faser ( v reg )motorbike ?

Yes it is possible to fit a K&N to any bike or Similar power filter, firstly you need to remove your air box and see what room you have if theres no frame in the way of the carbeurator end then measure the diameter of the intake on the carb and buy a power filter to fit, if there is frame you will nee to buy hosing to fit from the carb to a secure place for the filter, i used the old air box hose and attached the K&N to the end of it.

hope it helps if not buzz me [email protected]
