In my first attempt to change my engine oil, I drained oil from bottom of my 2001 Fatboy, from the plug on the right side towards the front of the engine, just below the Twin Cam Cover and floor board (see attached picture) look at dark spot where plug is located, only approx 4 oz drained out, where is this from? How to I refill that oil?
P.S. I did find the right one mounted on the right side towards the rear of the engine, so oil is now changed. How do you change the motor oil on a 2001 FLSTFI - _1035.jpg

Look at the bottom edge of the oil tank from the right side of the motorcycle. You'll see a large hose that goes towards the rear of the bike rather than the front towards the engine. It goes on down behind the transmission and emerges at the bottom of the frame behind the exhaust pipes. Look for a metal plug that is stuck in the end of the large hose.

On some year models, the hose goes down and connects to a "crossmember" at the bottom of the frame. Look underneath the crossmember and you'll see a plug. Screw the plug out to drain the oil.

Good Luck

Oil change 2001 Harley davidson fat boy

Look at the various videos online (youtube and fixmyhog). The main thing is to not spill oil when removing the oil filter. Ruins the front engine mount.

Do I need to drain the engine case on my 2002 Fat Boy when changing the oil?

Most people don't bother, because if everything is working right, it'll only have 2-3 tablespoons worth of oil, so it's hardly worth it.

I have a ninty five cubic inch engine with screamin' eagle race heads, high compression pistons,411 cams with jims power glide 2 lifters, screamin' eagle cam plate, with high volume oil pump,adjustable...

Additional "sounds" or "noise" from modified motors are fairly "normal" when the engines are at full operating temperatures. Changing you brand or weight of engine oil might have a slight effect in sound reduction, but if everything else seems okay then I'd just ride and enjoy it and keep an "ear" on things.

Where is the oil drain plug on a 2001 harley fatboy???

on the oil tank there should be a drain hose that goes down and hitches to the frame on the bottom of the frame there should be a drain bolt. That is your engine oil drain plug and should be on the right side

2001 harley davidson fat boy fork seals leak

Either the seals were not installed correctly or your tubes and sliders are excessively worn. Not changing the fork oil at recommended intervals will cause excessive wear. Overfilling the forks will cause leaks too.
