Where do you check transmission fuid on a 1997 harley davidson softail fat

On the right hand side of the transmission, there's a chrome clutch release cover with a large plug in it that takes a 3/8" Allen or Hex key to remove. It's kind of behind the exhaust pipe but it can be gotten to and removed without removing the pipes. Check the oil with the bike standing straight up.
