First check spatk plug is actually sparking by removing it from engine and reconnecting plug cap, then place metal part of plug against engine, with ignition on crank it over, if no spark try replacing plug first, if that fails check plug cap, lead, ignition coil and all the way back to the cdi unit
You can narrow the search by looking for any twin lead 12 volt points ignition coil, as long as you dont get a cdi, or electronic ignition coil, any point coil will do the job
A new CDi unit cost appox £390...............Why do you think that maybe the problem?
Easy to get too..remove the parcel/helmet box under seat 4 screws & 4 plastic fastners (push centre inwards & pull out) lift from the rear & pull back wards.CDi unit is on the off side with 2 block connecter going in............................Good luck Andy
P.S I have a 2nd CDi unit for sale.......£45. ring me on 07726322958
hi mate ,,i've got the same problem.<br />
i bought a basket case 550ef with no igniter unit(cdi) fitted,,turns out they're near impossible to find used,or stupidly priced...if i were you i'd go down the boyer bransden route because you don't have to buy the coils or pick ups you can get the igniter module seperately.hope this helps.........john..
For a "no spark" problem with a Hyosung RX125, check:
temporarily disconnect the battery. With the engine on at both the ignition switch and engine kill switch, verify that the green wire to the CDI does not measure 0 ohms to ground;
if it does, check the ignition switch and the engine kill switch;
it it measures anywhere between 50 ~ 500 ohms, then reconnect the battery and check that there is +12 on the orange wire going to the CDI with ignition switch on;
for a pulsating voltage (high ACV) at the white / blue wire coming from the CDI going to the ignition coil;
for a pulsating voltage (low ACV, 0.5VAC) at the green wire coming from the pulser coil going to the CDI; and
of course, check if the CDI (black / white) is connected to the ground.
