Transmission oil dipstick.....

Mitchy123 ..... Thank you for replying........but I meant the trans dipstick, not the crankcase.
I think it takes an allen wrench to unscrew it, but I just don't see it !!!!
I have just changed the oil....(takes 3 quarts) in the crankcase, now im gonna change the trans oil if I can figure it out.
I saw a pic of it on the web, and it looks like a one inch round top with an allen fitting. It is chrome. The dipstick is also chrome according to the pic.

You are correct and the size to remove it would be a 3/8" allen wrench. The dipstick should be on the right side of the bike where the clutch cable goes into the right side transmission cover and it will take roughly 22 ounces of transmission oil, that level should be checked with the bike upright and level and just put the dipstick in its hole so the bottom threads of the dipstick touch the top threads of the cover.

Testimonial: "Thanks very much DJ_MAX1369 ..... Finally I can change the trans oil.....I just was'nt sure, and being a new fxdl owner, I didn't want to mess up. BTW You sure answered quick. "

How do I check transmission oil in 2008 Jeep liberty

You can't as there is no dipstick. Best to take it to a good mechanic and see if they can check it. You can buy a dipstick tool for checking. https://www.ebay.com/itm/TRANSMISSION-DIPSTICK-TOOL-automatic-oil-auto-trans-ATF-Fluid-Level-Dip-NEW/151745623113?fits=Year%3A2008%7CModel%3ALiberty%7CMake%3AJeep&hash=item2354be7449:g:BrcAAOSw8a9cB3VL

How much oil would i put in my 70cc 4 stroke sunl

Enough.... You should have dipstick to tell you how much oil should be used. This dipstick is meant to be checked when fully screwed out and with the bike on the center stand if available. If no dipstick, you should find a small glass window somewhere on the side of the crankcase. Compare the oil level there to the marks on the crankcase. If you're still confused the FSM should have more accurate fluid requirements for different situations/procedures.

Volkswagen beetle problems

Two possibilities I can think of.. Dipstick not fully inserted... or is it possible that you have overfilled the crankcase with oil??? On my VW, I learned the hard way to take special care when checking the oil level with the dipstick... I had to fully remove the dipstick... clean it off... and THEN reinsert it... and pull it back out.. and then look to get an accurate oil level reading... It must have something to do with how the dipstick tube runs down into the crankcase....

How do I add transmission fluid to a 1991 ford f150 standard transmission?

Add your fluid through the tube that your transmission dip sick come out of. Take out your transmission dipstick(make sure it is not the oil dipstick) put a funnel in the tube and add the trans fluid. Check the fluid when the trans is warm because trans fluid expands with heat and you want to make sure you don't overfill. Add small amounts at a time.

Do i run the motor before pulling the dipstick on my yz450f

If we are talking about a 2004 YZ450F, you should always run the engine before taking an accurate dipstick check. This is a dry sump engine with the oil stored in the frame. The dipstick is located up high on the frame. You are not checking the oil level in the crankcase as the "Best Solution" dipstick suggested. In theory the oil is held up in thank when the engine is not running. However, most all of them have a tendency to have oil seep/leak out of the frame reservoir down into the crankcase. There is a check ball in the right crankcase cover that usually leaks if the engine has any hours on it at all. The dipstick up on the frame rarely reads accurate unless you have started the engine and let the oil pump circulate oil back up into the frame where it can be measured on the dipstick. Any mechanic who has had hands on experience knows this. The same is true for owners of dry sump XR's and Harleys, who all know to run the engine before final oil check. If you are going to to answer a tech question you need to have some experience with that model instead of your XR80.

2004 suzuki where is the transmission dipstick

Whoa now, make sure you are adding the correct kind of fluid. Suzuki uses expensive silica based fluid meant for import cars. At the dealer they charge 18.00 a quart. If you mix the wrong fluid in it, you'll ruin your tranny.
It has a 100k 7 year warranty on it, and requires no service for the duration. But adding the wrong fluid could void your warranty.

How and where do I add transmission fluid to my 85 mercedes 300d?

Yup...down the dipstick tube...Think about it...what's at the other end where the stick "reads" ...trans fluid! You could actually put your engine oil in through that tube also, but it would take forever!

Gear box and crankcase oil amounts

You have THREE oil 'compartments' on your particular year&model bike.

(1) The ENGINE OIL
---( which holds 3 to 3.5 quarts or liters of oil).
---On the right side of the bike, and at the rear of the ENGINE OIL TANK, you should notice a Hose that is connected to the oil tank. Follow that Hose downward.
The other end of that hose will either :

----A: Be connected to the bottom of the frame,
OR
----B: Have a Metal Plug in the end of the hose. That 'plug' will be held in the hose via a hose clamp, and also will be secured to the frame via a 'clip' that is actually part of the frame).

-- IF(A): the Hose leads from the tank and is attached to the frame, you will notice a hex-head plug (that also has a hex-cutout in it's center for insertion of a hex or allen key) underneath the part of the frame that the hose is attached to. Remove/Unscrew that Hexplug from the frame to drain the engine oil.

--IF(B): the hose that leads from the Oil Tank has a "HosePlug" that is inserted into the end of the hose, remove that plug to drain the engine oil.

*Removal of the Enging Oil DIPSTICK, located at the mouth/fill area at the top of the Tank will aid in a faster flow of oil from the tank. When done draining, re-install the drain plug.

-When changing the engine oil, also remove and install a new Oil Filter.

*Put in no more than 3 quarts/liters of oil into the Engine Oil Tank.
*Ride your bike for min. of 10 minuets, then park and shut down the engine, wait for about 2 minuets, and check the level via the Dipstick. Proper oil level will be at or just below the 'FULL' mark of the dipstick.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(2) The TRANSMISSION OIL:

On the right side of the motorcycle, the
TRANSMISSION OIL FILLER PLUG/DIPSTICK is located on the foward facing side of the Transmission End Cover. The Trans End Cover is the cover that the Clutch Cable goes into. The Trans Fill/Dipstick has a Hex/Allen cutout in it for insertion of a hex/allen key to remove it.

The Trans DRAIN PLUG is either located either:
A: -Located on the Transmission Case, JUST BELOW the Trans End Cover. If here, the "Drain Plug" will be a TORX fastener. Remove that Torx fastener to drain the Trans Oil.
OR
B: -Located UNDERNEATH the Trans Case, in between the two Shock Absorbers. If here, the 'Drain Plug" will be a HexPlug that is the same type drain plug as described earlier for the engine drain.

TRANSMISSION OIL QUANTITY is as follows:
** 600 ml. for a 5-speed transmission.
OR
** One Full Quart/Liter for a 6-speed Transmission.

******Use the Trans Dipstick to verify that the level is correct. Between the FULL and ADD mark, or at the FULL mark.

ALSO NOTE: Drain, and Check your Oil when the bike is level. Have a friend assist you if needed. You don't want the bike falling, and/or landing on you.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(3) The PRIMARY OIL

Located on the LEFT SIDE of motorcycle, the PRIMARY HOUSING connects the Engine Crankshaft TO the Transmission Output Shaft via a Primary Chain, which is lubricated by an oil bath.

(Make sure the Engine Run/Stop Switch is in the STOP or OFF position).

Remove the DERBY COVER (the Large round cover, with 5 Torx Fasteners. With the bike level, you should note that the oil level come to approx. just past the bottom of the Clutch Basket.

The Primary DRAIN PLUG is located: either at the

(A) Left Face of the Outer Primary Cover, below the Derby Cover.
If so, it will be a TORX or HEX/ALLEN fastener. It is NOT the same as the Hex/Allen fasteners that surround the Outer Primary Cover securing it to the Inner Primary Cover.

OR

(B) Located UNDERNEATH and ON the Outer Primary Cover, just below the Derby Cover area. It will either be a HEX FASTENER, or a Torx Fastener.

-Remove the Drain Plug to drain the Primary Oil.
-Reinstall the drain plug and fill (thru the Derby Cover Area) with ONE QUART/LITER of PRIMARY OIL.

****** BE SURE to clean and coat the threads of each Drain Plug with Teflon Paste thread sealant. NOT THREAD LOCKER.

****** BE SURE NOT TO OVER TIGHTEN THE DRAIN PLUGS.

If you are unclear of anything I wrote, please dont' hesitate to get in touch with me through here.
Good Luck , and THANK YOU.
-Marko
