Engine starts and runs,mows for 30 min then chokes

Engine starts and runsmows for 30 min then chokes out-wait 30 min will start and run 15 mins chokes out again next day will start and process repeats. Have put gas stablizer in tank but didnt seem to help. Engine is not excessively hot nor does it smoke. Engine is 16hp -10 year old craftsman riding lawnmower

I had the same problem i talked to a repair shop and they said the coil was going bad and when it heats up there is a short in it (follow the spark plug wire back to the motor and the coil is there ) i replaced the coil pack and problem solved, hope this helps.

have you left the choke open ? this mixes more fuel to the engine upon starting but will stall it if left open too long . check your fuel filter too it may be full of debris.

Lawnmower shuts off after 15-20 mins of running

Sounds like a bad coil to me ... it only makes sense that has the heat from the engine transfers into the coil the coil windings expand and causes a open resulting in ignition failure and no spark to the plugs... if you need parts try www.partstree.com

the engine is getting to hot & shutting down either not the right fuel mix or not enough oil in engine sometimes the mixture screws need to be adjusted

Starts and runs fine when cold, dies after 10 to 15 min.

i would try first change gas make sure its a mix of gas and 2 cycle engine oil,second new spark plug third make sure theres nothning in the gas line hope this helps

I had the same problem on my craftsman 18.5 hp, the problem was in the choke, the spring was broken, and the choke was not free, replaced the spring and it is fine now. Check it out. Good luck.
