I have a 1982 cb900 that makes a strange noise on

Hello. I have a 1982 cb900 custom that seems to make a noise on the bottom right side of the bike. Either from the stator cover or the clutch cover? It sounds like a vibration, or a spinning, or a squirting sound. It generally comes and goes at higher rpm's. Any ideas?

It could be your primary chain and chain guides, the chain wears and the guides harden with time and will transfer more internal engine noise through the transmission.
There is also on the primary hub/sprocket and internal rubber damper all this stuff ages with in time loosing there dampening qualities.
resulting in amplified mechanical noise.

1998 untra classic,RPM gaugue and neutral indicator not working, oil gauge moves all the way to the right and stays there no matter how much throttle iI give it. Any ideas or help? thanks

Take the front fairing off the bike, and check the wiring harness's where they run across the fairing braces. They have a problem with rubbing the braces and shorting the wires. Also, check the grounds under the seat at the bottom of the gas tank.

Strange noise (sounds like when kids put cards in spokes of bikes to make sound). Sometimes loud; sometimes low. (Kind of THUDY sound. On left hand side (near the wheels). Usually every day I drive it;...

sounds like it may be bad wheel hub bearing. wen going down road with no traffic steer left then right left right and see if noise gets louder and softer wen weight shifts from side to side. if it does u may need to get new hub bearings

I have a 1982 cb900 that makes a strange noise on

I would check the stator, if all looks good then move to the clutch side. I am thinking that it might be the clutch springs that have gone bad

Clacking noise at different engine idles on my Yamaha V Star

Lots of bikes make a clacking in the transmission , especially when cold at idle. Basically the engine accelerates and decelerates between each piston firing, and you hear the backlash in the gears slapping back and forth. Without hearing it I can't say for sure, but find someone else with a similar bike and see if it sounds the same.

Note: ...idle screw fully backed off... My 1982 Honda CB900 C is idling too high - after warm-up - 2-2500rpm. At start-up, it's 1100. The carbs have been overhauled & set-up, pilot screws set from 1.5...

Sounds like the plungers are in backwards, one side has the groove for the idle screw, the other side has an alignment slot.when you look into the top of the carb with the plunger out,you will see a pin sticking out of one side, that pin must line up with the slot on the plunger that runs from top to bottom

2003 1200 sportster makeing strange humming sound from rear right side. still get 50 mpg and the bike shows no other problems.

My bike does the same thing. I think it's the brake pads dragging a little. I brought to the shop and that was their opinion. they adjusted it and reduced the sound but it still does it to a lesser degree.
