Hi, I am confused, your problem question banner shows the year as 2003 for your Kwaka. Vin number is normally for the frame/chassis. If you look around the engine you should see a stamped/etched alpha numeric code. If you call Kawasaki they should be able to tell you the details regarding this code.
The frame number is the Vehicle Identification Number. If the engine is the original engine, then the engine is the same year as decoded from the frame number. If it is not the original engine, you are hosed as to determining the year of the engine. The engine numbers will not identify what year the engine is. The only identifier is the frame number. Engine numbers are useless since they only denote the engine size, assembly plant, and sequence of that engine in a production run. You can go to the site below and enter the frame number into the VIN decoder to get the year and other information. Note; back in 1985 the manufacturers adopted 17 digit VIN. i think its probly an 01 but call dealership and give them the 10th diget of your vin (this will be a letter) and they will be able to tell you for sure
The engine number will tell you what country the engine was made , what series the engine is and the production number. The frame number VIN is what will tell you the needed info. Call a dealer and give them the frame number and they should be able to tell you what you have.
Easy to find! Just phone your local Kawasaki dealer with the VIN numbers and they can give you all the information you want. In the off chance the dealer is too busy or just doesn't want to please a customer, just Google ' Kawasaki motorcycle texas ' and you will have plenty of other dealers you can call. Use your own state or any state in the Google search.
