2001 Honda CBX 250 TWister Logo

Engine feels rough, and gear change not that 'smooth'.

Bought a 2ndhand Honda CBX250 Twister, mileage 20,000 km and its is 3.5 yrs old. The engine felt a bit rough and gear change as of 3rd onwards not that 'smooth'. I have a feeling the bike shop forgot to give it a standard service eg oil change, plug & air filter change as an after sales goodwill gesture. I laid off biking for 15 yrs and my last ride was a Kawa Z1R. Will the oil change resolve this minor glitch. The bike runs OK. One Last question is what grade of gas is ideal eg Octane 92, 95 or 98 and is synthetic oil recommended? I am from Singapore and the climate here is warm , average is 31C for daylight hours and 23-25C for the evenings.

Honda's run on any fule but stick to 98 if you can as for oil yes synthetic oil is ok a good service wont do any harm so if you can do it yourself all the better

Testimonial: "Yes, I will try synthetic oil as it consumes only 1 lit on my 250 cc bike. This bike comes w a side std only, a hassle when changing oil."

Need a manufacturing plate for my 2006 Honda Twister CBX. Brought it over from South Africa like that. Can't get wof without this plate. Please help.

Boy, you could have a trial on your hands!!
I would approach Honda direct through a dealer but the frame should have a number stamped on it usually near the headstock. The engine number should be more visible. What I guess is missing is the embossed plate or sticker usually found on the frame tube or under the seat giving certification etc.
Can you not provide the numbers through some sort of registration document?
I know it seems silly but look out for another model the same because there is sometimes a Honda part number/reference actually on the sticker/plate. The dealer may be able to help from a parts list, it may show the sticker/plate.
Also go to www.bikez.com/motorcycles for info. Good luck!
