Your bike will only run at full throttle if your cable or main jet needle are stuck in the full throttle position .Take your throttle cable off and check that its freely working inside the outer caseing .

Why does my ATV bog down and die when I keep the throttle wide open?

If you are lucky, you might just need new fuel filter and the fuel bowl cleaned out, and maybe new air filter. If not so lucky you need carburetor rebuilt. Backfire is usaully caused by engine running too lean ( too much air for the amount of fuel present). Fuel bowls get gunk in them and the fuel needles and fuel jets get varnished up. The accelerator pump gets worn out gaskets and/or bellows and doesn't give the right amount of fuel mist when you accelerate.

Full Choke is indicative of a motor starved for fuel

I have a honda trx250te atv it starts and runs full throttle

Hi,

Have you check the throttle cable to make sure it moves freely and it's not getting stuck? Have you also checked and cleaned the carburetor? The carburetor might need to be tweaked by lowering the throttle and raising the idle some.

2000 polaris 325 magnum will not idle adjusted carb still will not installed new plug

Your ATV not idling could be a couple different issues. First issue could be the throttle control on the right hand handle bar is not adjusted correctly. There is a box with the throttle cable coming out of it, and on the throttle cable a rubber boot butted up against the box. The Electronic Throttle Control is a safety device that will kill spark to the engine if the throttle is stuck wide open. Inside the box there are contact points that have to be a certain distance apart in order to keep from killing the spark. This can be adjusted with a thumb nut and screw on the throttle cable by the ETC. There should be no more than 1/8 inch freeplay in your thumb throttle, which is how far the throttle can be pushed before resistance is felt on the throttle. Anymore than that and the points will contact, causing your atv to not idle.
The other issue could be a plugged pilot jet in your carburetor. An easy trick to try and free up the pilot jet is to remove the air filter and start the atv. Keep it running about half throttle or so, then rev motor up and put your hand tightly against the air intake. Once it starts bogging down to the point it is going to die pull your hand away and regain engine rpm to about half throttle. Repeat those steps a few times then see if it will idle. The suction of your hand against the intake will a lot of times free up any small clogs in the pilot circuit. If these suggestions don't work, the carburetor will have to be removed and cleaned. Let me know, Daniel.

1996 sportsman 400 wont idle. Had the carb cleaned by a "mechanic" after the bike took off wide open and driver was injured. He said the float stuck and he "fixed" the problem. Now...

I have NEVER heard of a float sticking and causing that issue. Sounds to me like the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) on the right handlebar isn't or wasn't adjusted. There is a thumb nut on the throttle cable coming out of the ETC switch. Loosen the screw and turn the cable in or out to get 1/16 to 1/8 inch freeplay on the thumb throttle. Too loose and it won't idle, too tight and it will pull the throttle cable tight and rev engine. It could also be a carburetor issue if it runs with choke. Either the idle screw isn't adjusted or the pilot jet is plugged. There is a large thumb screw coming off the carburetor, turning clockwise will turn the idle up. Let me know if you need anything else, Daniel.

2005 Sportsman 700 EFI - Throttle stuck wide open. All cables move freely, opened throttle position sensor - butterfly valve opens smoothly with thumb throttle but valve does not close all the way even...

you will have to have a nulti meter and unplug the sensor and che the ohms on the sensor when you move the control, it should move up and down on the ohm numbers smoothly if jumps as you apply throttle then you have a bad sensor

1999 Grand Prix GTP. Catalytic convertor fine.

Make sure it always gets premium fuel...even with premium and especially in warmer weather the GTP will frequently perform the factory programmed KR (knock ******.) In WOT it is also more susceptible to running a lean condition with stock programming.
Things you can do to troubleshoot the problem and give more consistant performance with the GTP is run colder range copper core plugs and/or any brand of cold air intake, or even a stand alone 9" open element cone filter. Both are better than stock and provide more airflow even though the stock airbox was redesigned in '99. What else you can do is not limited to that but a start. Good luck.
