In order to install a stator on a Harley. You have to disconnect the battery and remove the outer primary. Then you have to remove the primary chain assembly, the clutch and the compensator nut and ramps to get to the rotor. Once you remove the rotor you'll see the stator. Compensator nut is 150 ft/lb. The clutch is 45 ft/lbs. The comp nut is standard thread while the clutch basket nut is left handed threads.
Now, if you wish to remove the clutch as a unit, disconnect the battery. Drain the primary case. Remove the primary cover. Take the compensator sprocket nut off. Take the nut off the primary chain adjuster. Now, take the snap right out of the clutch release plate and remove the plate. You'll have to take the nut off the mainshaft that holds the clutch assembly on. It has LEFT HANDED THREADS. Then you need a puller to get the clutch assembly off the tapered shaft, Custom Chrome 20269, $30 and a "locking bar" to keep the engine from turning while you torque the nuts, Custom Chrome 20825,$26. You can then disassemble the clutch and you'll need a press to press the inner clutch hub out of the outer clutch hub.
Then compensator sprocket nut torques to 150-165 foot pounds and the clutch mainshaft nut torques to 60-80 foot pounds LEFT HANDED. Put one line of Loctite 271 red in each nut. You will need a torque wrench that will torque in the reverse direction. All torque wrenches won't do that.
I'm going to assume that you are talking about how to remove the engine sprocket from the sprocket shaft in the primary cover.
First, disconnect the battery and drain the primary. Look underneath the primary and loosen the locknut for the primary chain adjuster and loosen the primary chain by turning the screw outwards a few turns.
Then take the derby cover off the primary and remove the spring and locknut for the clutch adjustment. Remove the screws from around the primary and break it loose from the engine. Turn the clutch adjustment screw clockwise while removing the primary cover. Lay the primary cover aside.
Now, there is a plate in the center of the clutch assembly held in with a circlip. Remove the circlip. Now you'll need either an air wrench or a locking bar to lock the primary to prevent it from turning so you can get the clutch hub nut and the engine sprocket nut off. The engine nut has right hand threads and comes off normally. The clutch hub nut has LEFT HANDED THREADS and you must turn it in reverse. Once you get the two nuts off, you can usually grab the engine sprocket and the clutch assembly and lift those two units and the chain off at once. Sometimes you may need a puller to get the engine sprocket off but usually it just comes right off.
Installation is the reverse with the engine nut being torques to 150 foot pounds and the clutch hub nut torqued to 60 foot pounds left handed.
I assume you're talking about the primary chain. To get the primary chain off, you must remove the compensator sprocket from the engine shaft and disassemble the clutch, which takes a special tool to compress the clutch spings, and remove the outer clutch basket. The outer clutch basket is held on by a large nut on the inside that has left-handed threads on it. Once you have all that off, you can remove the four "trapdoor" bolts and pry the transmission out.
As far as I know, it comes off just like any other clutch. The changes that convert the bike into right hand drive are all in the transmission. Drain and remove the primary cover, remove the compensator nut, remove the plate held into the clutch pack by the snap ring, take the mainshaft nut off that holds the clutch on (NOTE: Left-Handed threads), take the primary chain adjuster off. Lift the compensator sprocket, primary chain, and clutch off as a unit.
Remove the outer primary cover on left side. Don't forget to drain the oil first. Using a large pair of snap ring pliers, remove the clutch adjuster plate from center of clutch assembly. Remove compensator sprocket nut (very tight) and the clutch hub nut (left handed threads) and remove nut from bolt on primary chain adjuster. Grab the compensator sprocket and clutch assembly and lift out of inner primary.
you will have to remove the compesator nut and the circlip in the centre of the clutch hub , remove the nut securing the clutch basket on (left hand threads on this nut so be carefull ) remove the little jackshaft nut and stater gear then remove the 2 bolts holding the starter motor on then you will find 6 or so bolts holding the inner primary case on remove these and the inner primary case will come free with a little jiggle. unfortuantaly you will also have to remove the rear wheel ,suspension and swing arm to get the new belt on. hope this helps

The compensating sprocket has regular threads and will loosen left and tight right. The clutch nut has reverse threads and loosens to the right ..... I've done this procedure several times and if u have any other questions, dont hesitate to ask - good luck
