Question about 1999 kawasaki ZX-6R Ninja
Would not start,no problem previously.fuel okay , spark at plugs good. checked coils and pick up coil resistance within limits, fuel pump and relay okay. decided must be cdi bought second hand one .fitted it and tried to start bike with gravity feed. bike started straight away, ran it for 20 secs and switched off . rebuilt bike but now will not start and it has the same symptoms as before [ seems like timings out] so i believe it has blown the replacement cdi too. this to me means that it blows the cdi when you switch off at the key, but all checks are okay including feed to cdi at 6.5 volts. This is on a 1999 zx6r g. thanks
Hi, Gemmaj_p123 what is your ignition fuse doing, if your blowing CDI's then I would look for a short coming from the CDI on it's way to the coils, cracked or worn or chafed wiring for this scenario you will need your service/owners manual if you can't find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Kawasaki, despair not, for a mere zero $0 you can download another one.

you could possibly have a bad fuel petcock they sometimes work there way out and cause fuel cut off to half the carburetors. The vent tube on tob of the tank can also become blocked. You can check it buy sucking on the tube and making sure you can **** air out of it. You may or may not have inline filters under the tank. If it's a 93 there is no fuel pump.

i have the same bike try this. Firstly check the fuel is fairly fresh, using premium fuel on this model seems to work well. drain a little fuel from each carb to remove poss water build up and get fresh fuel. if spark plugs over 6 months old or over 5000 miles change as zxrs` eat plugs a spark does not mean it is allways good. i have changed to irridium plugs and have not had problems since . before you take out plugs turn over the engine a few times then when you remove each plug they should be wet ,if one is dry no fuel so clean carb, remove plug caps before you do this and note exact location of each.good luck Bri.
