How do I test the fuel pump on an SV 800 intruder? My problem is that I am getting no gas to the front carb. The bike runs on the back cylender only, but the front cylender has spark and runs fine when I spray starting fluid in the front intake.

Hello, how do I test the fuel pump on a 1994 800 intruder?
It shows voltage in both sides of the 4 pin connector on 2 pins with the ignition switch in the on position and will activate the pump when I use a test light but only then.

Drain the carb floats and clean with Seafoam. Gas breaks down after about 6 months and the ethanol in the gas coats the carb.

Suzuki intruder 800vs backing through carbs

May not be getting enough fuel, check the filtre in the fuel tank, remove fuel ****,(fuel on/ fuel off/ reserve).( has rubber o ring type gasket), could also be a kink in the fuel line, check or replace spark plug's, you also may need to test your fuel pump with meter, check out intruder alert cafe, lot's of good advice there.

Bike starts onley running on back cyl. front one cold has spark on both and comp about the same ,wandering about front carb any ideas

check to see if your front spark plug is wet when you run the bike. If it is then your spark might not be strong enough. this could be a bad coil or ignitor. If your plug does'nt get wet then clean and rebuild your front carb. check to make sure your itntake manifold is not cracked or dry rotted and causing a vacum leak.

Have 96 suzuki intruder 800. Has been sitting for three years, the carbs were lacquered pretty bad, especially the back carb. cleaned them both. bike runs, but the back carb/cylinder acting rough.what...

I would try checking the rubber between the carb and motor for air leaks,and/or spray carb cleaner through while running with the air box open.

Bike wont start

I posted this for a similar problem, maybe it can help. Are you sure it's getting gas to the carbs? Some people don't realize the 99-02 SV650 has a vacuum-actuated fuel pump, and sometimes it can get stuck. Mine has had this problem, and it took me a while to determine it was the problem. I would guess it only happens after the bike has been sitting a while (ours unfortunately sat for a year or so without being run).

Best way to check it is to lift the tank (it's bolted to the frame on the right side of the engine just under the tank). Unplug the line toward the front of the motorcycle from the fuel pump, and connect some spare fuel hose to it running to a can next to the bike (don't want to get gas everywhere!). With everything else still connected, crank the bike for a short period to see if any fuel comes out (shouldn't take long). If not, then move backward and ensure fuel will flow from the vacuum-petcock when the bike is cranked. If that does work, your fuel pump needs some work. I was able to take mine apart and unstick it.

Suzuki vs800 intruder dies after about a mile!

Sounds like water in the gas. ALWAYS have a fire extinguisher on hand when working on carburetors.
For each carb > Drain the carburetor. There should be a screw on the lower side or bottom of the carb float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains. Turn the gas back on and wait a minute for the carb to fill with gas. If the bike doesn't start and run properly then shut off the gas and remove the carburetor from the engine.

Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb.
Put the carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine. This process should get you back on the road.
