Things to check are

1/ Short out plug wire to good earth to check for spark, if none check rest of sequence. If spark, replace spark plug.
2/ Next check wiring connectors from the ingition module to coil and ensure they are all tight.
3/ This is quite technical but the use of a digital / analogue meter is required.
4/ Place a meter on each wire to the coil and crank (Without spark plug in) there should be some voltage / current flow through the feed wires (Not the earth - Black) If nothing trace back to Generator.
5/ Forgot to mention the kill switch operation, if unsure bridge these wires together.
Other than that the other tests involve sound electrical knowledge and is beyond the scope of the average person.
A thought, if this model has a battery ensure its fully charged.

Won't start

You need to take the carburetors apart and clean the thorough, put a new fuel filter, fresh fuel, full charge the battery and use a new spark plug. Most likely it will start. What model is this 2001 Kawasaki 250 exactly?

I'm having trouble starting my 1985 rm 250 and I

It means that unburned fuel collected in the exhaust pipe then ignited when the spark plug fired due to the rotation of the crankshaft. It also means the spark plug is firing and the cylinder is getting gas... too much gas. The engine is flooding out due to much choking of the carb during kick starting.

I have a 2002 Suzuki Ozark 250 ATV. I only has about 11 hours on it and was in storage for years. I rode it without problem last fall but now is difficult to start and will not idle. I drained the old gas...

I don't have a solution but I do have the exact same problem, '03 or '04 (not sure) Suzuki 250 Quadrunner Ozark, really low hrs, left in storage for 2.5 yrs, gas went bad, cleaned it out, now hard to start and won't idle by itself.
I have taken the carb apart and cleaned it out, but did not replace anything, and it will still not start very easily or idle. Before I took the carb apart I thought it was flooding because it would start with the accelerator wide open, but when I would let off, it would die again. Whats going on?? I really don't want to pay to have it fixed.

I just purchased a 1985 Suzuki RM 250 that hasn't been started in 8 years. What suggestions would you have before I try and start it?

Change gearbox oil, install a new spark plug. Check for spark before installing the plug. Remove, dis-assemble, and clean the carb by soaking it in denatured alcohol for 15 minutes then finish with a can of spray carb cleaner. Wear goggles to protect your eyes from the spray.
In stall a new air filter. Remove the gas tank and clean it out. Install an in-line fuel filter to prevent trash from the tank getting into the carb. Use a can of spray starting fluid on the air filter to aid in starting.

A fterI warm up my 01 rm 250 my bike don't start

Possibly the choke is getting stuck internally, Even thoug the leaver may be in the closed (normal) position, it may be sticking internally. Try removing the choke and cleaning the passage with some carb cleaner, then replace the lever. The bike could run with a partially cloged choke but would be tough to start when warm due to too much fuel. Another thing to check, when it is hard to start, just after kicking it over a few times, remove the spark plug and see if it is wet with gas. My guess is that's it's soaked. Good luck.
