I would say that the carbs have to come off for cleaning, the float needle is jamming either by dirt or wear.
You may need carby kit(s).

Sounds rare that all carbs are flooding.

The only way not to let this repeat itself is to lock your fuel-valve everytime the bike is not in use.
There's supposed to be a sack of minor tools sold with the bike. The tools are easily reached by opening the little compartment area in the tail section of the bike.
As you might have been well aware, a bike is essentially different from a car that has thousands of parts attached to it. Your bike has a simple mechanical fuel-valve, not a pump as in cars. So whenever the fuel-valve is 'on' you have the fuel going all the way down to the carburettors, and the only thing regulating the fuel flow is just the simple 'float' in the carburettor.
If you experience starting difficulty in the future, you might want to replace those carburettor floats, because they have suffered as a result of you not shutting-off your fuel-valve each time you park your bike.

Hi i have a gsxr 400 gk76a and the bike is sounding louder which i know is the exhuast its blowing but a hissing noise is coming from the engine is this normal. the bike is also strugling sometimes to idle...

The hissing is not normal. What you describe sounds like a head gasket going bad. As to the idle problem, clean the carbs. Leave the floats alone; the carbs are not over-flowing and the cylinders are getting gas. The floats do not get balancing, they work properly or they don't.

1994 GSXR 750 wont start

the carbs are proberbly blocked, you might have rust in your tank that will keep blocking, put an inline fuel filter in and get carbs cleaner, you also got a flat battery, give i little revs until it starts then adjust the idle

Drz 400 sm starts but i cant give it any gas or it dies

Can you slowly increase the revs? It sounds like an accelerator pump or debris in the carb.

LEAKING FUEL

You need to get some new float needles, and have the carbs cleaned and the float heights set correctly.

LEAKING OVERFLOW PROBLIM

it sounds to me like the carb float levels are out of adjustment and it is overfilling the bowls,or,the needle valve seats are worn and leaking, which will allow fuel to continue filling the bowls even though it looks like they are closed, remove the carbs from the bike, remove the bowls, turn the cabs upside down close the floats(push them right to the top, this simulates full bowls)then blow throgh the fuel inlet pipe,if you can hear air escaping from around the seats they are faulty, also check that the seats themselves are tight in the carb body,i dont know why but gsxr carbs seem to shake the valve seats loose..hope this helps

Cant get it running right

Invest in a FACTORY service manual. By the end of the first hour the manual has paid for itself. Don't get a Haynes or Clymer manual. Set the valve clearances and cam chain tensioner. Install new stock NGK spark plugs. Clean or replace the air filter.

I don't have a manual so I will assume the bike has carbs and not fuel injection.
Remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Is there any water or trash in the bowl? Drain a cup of gas from the tank. Is there any water or trash in the cup? Dump it, clean it and re-mount it, ( not all bikes have a water trap bowl ).

FOR EACH carb >
Drain the carburetor. There should be a screw on the lower side of the carb float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains. After all carbs have been done, turn the gas back on and wait a minute for the carb to fill with gas. If the bike doesn't start and run properly then shut off the gas and remove the carburetors from the engine.

Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Remove the idle screw and the air screw on the outside throat of the
carb and spray into the screw holes as well.
< < READ CLOSELY > >
Be sure to put these two screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two adjusters down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each adjuster one and one half turns outward. Put the rest of the
carb back together and install the carb.

Also, sync the carbs such that the slides on all carbs begin to move at the same exact instant when the throttle is slowly turned. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine. This process should get you back on the road.

Wont start without choke

I am having a similiar problem. bmw r 1100 s will only start with full choke and will die if I cut off choke or give it any throttle. This is my first bike and it has been sitting in a garage for 2 years. I took out the carbs, cleaned them and rebuilt them. I didn't find any residual in the carbs and they were very clean. Today, I was able to get the bike running and took it down the neighborhood but after the bike warms up it idles at 6K! Man... If I can't find any answers from this forum, I will probably drop it off at the motorcycle shop just down the hill from me. Any suggestions anyone? I think I will try to drain the fuel and give it new gas. But still....
