Question about 1998 Cagiva Canyon 500
I have a problem insofar as the spark plug fails to get a spark as the starter motor is turning, the battery is fine and fully charged, all earthing cables are attached the diode on the starter circuit has been tested and is in order, the only thing I haven't checked is the cdi unit itself, how can I check that it is working correctly?
Did you check the primary coil? the ignition coil?if you think that these are all good, then you must replace the CDI.You cant test a CDI if this is good or not because it is a form of IC or integrated circuit, unless you have a manufacturer's diagram of it.You can check it by by detaching into its plug and get and replace an old CDI which you know is working, for example, get the CDI of the other motorcycle (if it has)the try to plug-in ,and if it fires, then thre you can surely know that the problem is on the CDI.
