Possible crank bearing failed and incorrect adjustment on the clutch cable or the clutch it self

Knocking nosie from left side of 06 saturn ion? hear it all the time but mainly after 2nd gear when it shifts is the worst part?

Have your motor supports checked. Also the drive shaft could be causing the problem if that knocking is not coming from inside the motor.

Ticking coming from bottom of motor like its out of oil but its not coming from left side where you put oil in

Hello William, the noise you indicate from the bottom left of the engine could be from the crankshaft damper. This is usually more of knock than it is a tick. It's hard to say without actually hearing your bike. A lot of Vulcan owners have reported this noise. I would swing by the service shop & let them give a listen, they should be familiar with it. Also, if you are using a fram oil filter, i would replace it, they have been known to cause problems.
I hope this helps.

First time driving a 1967 Triumph motorcycle coming up. Would like advice on where stuff is like clutch, brake, shifter and how to shift -- where the gears are. Thanks. Art [email protected]

Hi Art! First of all, congratulations on your 1967 Triumph... that's a beauty!!!

Basic things to know before riding a bike is it's parts.

Clutch is the lever you press on the left side of the handle bar.

Front disc brake is the lever on the right side of the handle bar.

Shifter is the one you're stepping on when shifting gears and is located on the left side of the engine if you're on it.

Now, you must first know if the gear is on Neutral by pushing the bike before starting the bike. If it's hard to push then the shifter is not in neutral. Press the shifter by your left foot until you are able to push the bike with ease.

Hop on the bike and start the engine. Most bikes have ignition starters but if your bike doesn't have one, then you have to turn keys to on position and use the kick starter. Rev the engine by pressing the throttle grip on the right side of the handle bar.

Engine is running and in idle position. Press the Clutch lever (left hand) and press the shifter once (left foot) DO NOT RELEASE THE CLUTCH YET!!!

Slowly press the throttle with your right hand until you hear or feel the engine purr...

Slowly release the clutch (left hand) until you fell the bike move forward.

If I am not mistaken, shifting the gears of the triumph is 1-down and 4 up...

Every time you shift gears, you need to press the clutch to release the gears.

Hope you'll have fun!!!

Ride safe my friend!!!

Don't forget your riding gears!!!

Terrible knocking/slapping noise ( can't tell which )

The smoke would be expected as would the temporary situation of poor performance. The grey oil is water emulsified in the oil. This probably had nothing to do with being knocked over. Normally the seals on the water pump impeller shaft go bad and leak water into the gearbox. I am going to take a guess and say the bike fell on its' left side. If so, chances are the shift lever was forced upward and the gear dogs did not line up with the next gear. This results in a bent shift fork (or two) and is $1000.00 or more to fix. I am guessing the metal to metal knocking is the dogs on a slider gear not fully meshing with the adjacent gear.

Could you take a moment and rate my answer? Thanks!

Hi,when the engine is cold i hear a noise from the right bottom side of the engine,if i rev it to 2000rpm and up it stops, also when i push the clutch the noise stops.when the bike gets the idle tamberature...

Hi there, what you have is a very common problem called Cluthe Rattle.... I say problem but its not really, unless it is really really load its not going to cause you a problem, might be worth whipping the clutch cover off on the next oil change and as long as everything looks like its done upo it should be fine.. when the cover is off iff you grab the clutch basket in your hand and try to rotate it forwards and backwards you will probably be able to replicate the noise your hearing just slower....

Noise in trans or in primary chain

It sounds like the primary drive chain is loose. The way I adjust mine is to take off the upper left inspection cover, start the bike and slowly tighten the adjuster until it starts to wine, then back off until it stops. Rev it slowly and listen for a wine. No wine good to go.
