My piaggo zip 70s kit will not start

Yes, there is a safety interlock that requires either the front or rear brake to be applied. It is mentioned here, but not in respect to the kickstarter which appears to be an optional extra..

There is a capacitor on or near the motor that is most likely bad or the centrifugal switch inside the motor is intermittent. Service tech is needed

Do you have moisture in the gas? Try a little dry gas.

It looks to me like a vacuum leak. See the switch at the brake pedal.
look underhood around vacuum leak for cruise control.
look up for bad connector at cruise module underhood
it's a visual check first

Best recommendation is take it back ... it is new ... if you mess with it, bye bye warranty. Make em fix the electric start as well. There are unseen issues with this machine.

There's a tiny switch on the back of the module "kick type" try switching that

Power switch? Do you mean push to start switch? To see if you have a bad push to start 1st unplug. Open back top panel. Only do this test if you hae two wires going to the push to start switch. Wear gloves so you dont kill yourself. seriously. If you do have two wire then disconnect from push to start. Make sure they are not touching anything!!! Plug machine in. Tunr timer to 60 minutes. Touch wire together then pull apart. If machine kick on replace push to start. If not put everything back the way it was. Jump out door switch. If door switch is jump and still dont work then check motor test. Check harness on motor. If has a capacitor need to check with a cap. tester. You need a service manual to test wheather you have a bad motor. The manual will show you how to properly test a motor (each lead has ohms valve and you have to know what they are to test)

You will need to add some coolant. Most auto parts stores and hardware stores have recharge kits. Purchase a kit with a gauge to prevent overfilling.
