There is a short to ground causing the fuse to blow. Trace all wires from IGN and look for one that may have been damaged.

My main fuse on 900 vulcan 2011 keeps blowing just when I try to put it in. Does anybody have any ideas? this bike has very ow miles and is kept in guarage.

Low battery will not blow a fuse. If it blows right away when you turn on the ignition you have a main electrical short. Disconnect the regulator to the battery connector at the regulator to see if you have a shorted regulator. After the main fuse blows you should not have a battery drain so figure out also why your battery is discharged. Is your batttery no good. This would not blow a fuse in any case. Was the battery out recently, or disconnected. Make sure it is installed correctly and none of the wires are connected incorrectly. THEN you will have to start tracing the wiring from the main fuse to find the short circut.

What would make my main fuse on my gs 550 keeps blowing

Not certain at all, but I would think you probably have a short in the circuit somewhere. Have you inspected all the electrical on the bike? Really not too difficult, I had to do the same thing last year since I couldn\'t get mine to turn over. Remove the gas tank (quite easy, a single bolt under the seat), and inspect all the wiring for either a corroded wire or a short which is touching steel and grounding the circuit somewhere. In the end, on mine, it was the horn which was breaking my circuit. Hope that helps, or it\'s at least somewhere to start. Some one else might have better advice. Good luck!

My 1982 gs550 L will start fine but when it turns off the main fuse will blow every single time!

If you don't start the bike....just turn it on and off...does the fuse blow...or only if engine starts and stops?

If not starting engine still blows fuse, and it only blows shutting key off...I would inspect ignition switch for a short.

Will not send water through the water solenoid valve and blows fuses in the furnace

Is this a small 3 or 5 amp fuse it is blowing at the furance. My assumption it is. If this fuse is blowing right away, then this is a direct short. The solinoid valve needs to be replaced. The valve has a direct ground to casing short. Replace the valve and the furance will not blow fuses anymore.

81 GS 550 L blows the fuse after you let go of the starter button. Sometimes after 1 turn over and sometimes not until the 10th or 11th turn over. we went through virtually all the wiring and made sure...

1. did you replaced the fuse with the same
specification or amperes as the original?you must
replace it as by the original becos if you will put a
lower ampere, then it cant carry the load thats why
there is a blowing of fuse..
2. check the started, there is a posibility that the rewind or coil has damaged and the watts & ampere of the said starter might be going high.

Regarding on the problem that it wont fire.Check the spark plug, claen the carburator and set the right timing.

Main fuse blows when ignition key turned...HELP 1980 Kawasaki kz550 A1

Sounds like a hard short between the main fuse and auxiliary fuses. disconnect the positive battery terminal and measure it with an ohm meter (red probe on positive battery lead, black probe on frame)
