2002 Harley-Davidson FXDWG Dyna Wide Glide. The engine LIGHT is ON.

Went out to start the bike last week and the battery was DEAD. it was three years old so I replaced it with a lithium battery. Went for short ride and after about 5 miles the engine light came on. When I stoped at a light it went off. Took off and it came back on. When I slowed down or made a turn it went off until I increased speed. What could cause this?

When you disconnected the battery, all the information stored in the ECU was lost. It has to learn everything again. The fault light was transient, it came on and went off. You only need to worry if it stays on.

Hi, Tracy, this is the sort of electrical problem that is probably mechanical. In other words, a complete failure like this suggests there is a break in the wiring or a blown fuse. If nothing on the bike is working, but the battery is fully charged, there are not many parts of the bike that can cause that lack of power. I can only recommend starting at the battery and working your way along with the wiring, checking every connection, including the ignition switch. There is probably a broken connection or failed electrical part that should be obvious when you come across it.

05 Wide Glide wont start

How much oil in a 2002 wide glide

Unless they've changed something, most Wide Glides hold three quarts of oil. Always check the oil level with the dipstick. There are two marks on the stick. The lower mark is "Full Cold" the upper mark is "Full Hot". Check the oil with the bike on the side stand.

2002 Dyna wide glide. Will not IDLE

not running for a year! You have a varnish buildup in the low end circuit of the carb. You will need to remove the carb and do a full teardown of the carb to properly rectify this problem. SOMETIMES we are able to free up the passages by putting SEA FOAM cleaner in the tank , fill her up with fresh fuel and ride through the tank and it will clear up. SEA FOAM can be purchased at an auto parts store and is sometimes very effective. 1/4 cup to full tank fuel.

Chevy 2002 blazer 4x4 manual not starting new starter and ignition switch I have the vehicle listed above, LS model, two door with a manual transmission. Earlier this week I went to start my truck, and everything was fine, it ran for about 10 minutes before I drove it. I was at a stoplight stopped, and my truck was cutting electricity. My headlights were flickering and all my lights on my dashboard were flashing. I gave it some gas and it stopped. I got to work shut off the car and went inside. When I went out it would not start. Later that day I hit the starter with a hammer, and it started but would not run properly. In about 10 minutes idling it shut itself off and will not turn on. We replaced the starter since it was smoking and would not disengage. We got it out and replaced it and we decided to turn on the car, it would try to start when the key is not in the start position and my foot not on the clutch. I replaced the ignition lock cylinder and the ignition switch and have also replaced the relay fuse. My battery charges 12.4 volts and I've checked all of the wiring underneath my dashboard when I replaced the ignition switch, and I couldn't find a bad wire. My car is still trying to start when not in start position. Please help
