Hello, bike not running off of choke is an indication that the pilot circuit in the carbs is plugged.. the choke is a enriching circuit hence why it runs only with the choke on. When turned off the bike starves for fuel and dies. My guess is the bike has sat for longer than 4 months and the pilot jets are plugged from varnish... they will need to be removed and properly cleaned.
No i would not expect it to, if anything blocking the vent hose to the gas tank would cause a vacuum and stoping fuel from flowing as easy , most likely a faulty fuel pump diaphram or incorrect float height.
Sticky float needle, worn needle, bad tip on needle, gummy gas, sunk carburetor float, rust in the tank jamming needle in place. Take apart and clean carburetor, inspect needle, check fuel filter in tank, add extra inline fuel filter, always turn off gas when not riding.
- Take the seat off. - Unscrew the two bolts holding the back of the tank. - Remove (unscrew) the petcock handle. - Lift the back of the tank. I'm not sure the air filter can be accessed without removing the whole tank. If you have to remove it, it just slides back and up - there are no screws in the front of the tank. Pay attention not to disconnect the hoses/wires if you are just lifting the tank, or disconnect them all if you have to take the tank off. - Unscrew and remove the battery cover if necessary. - Unscrew the airbox cover (two screws in top corners). - Pull the airbox cover back and remove it. It's held at the lower end by two plastic "teeth" - no screws. - Remove the old filter and put in the new one. - Put everything back in reverse order.
Refer to the microfiche above for parts layout. This is a simple procedure that shouldn't take more than 30 minutes even with tank removal.
have you a spark?sounds like ouyr float level is too high and the carbs are flooding, try to decrease the float level, she will not start with too much gas

Actually the fill nozzle at the pump is supposed to vent back pressure of the vapors.. When filling my bike, I hold the boot of the nozzle back so it doesn't block the vapors and kick off the fill process. Good Luck.
Christmas comes early. Go to the site below and you can download a free PDF service manual. Yours is the 1st one in the "Suzuki GSF" section of the list. 4 or 5 below that is a PDF parts diagram with part numbers.
http://www.carlsalter.com/motorcycle-manuals.aspMost manuals are in English but some are not. There is no way to be sure without doing the download. You can always delete it if in a foreign language.
