Can't read fuel guage

I bought a 99 Suzuki Intruder 1500. Everything is perfect except for the LCD display part of the speedometer. (previous owner said it got fried by the sun) I knew this when I bought the bike, but didn't think it mattered much. Well it does. The LCD display shows the fuel level and is also the odometer.. Normally I would just use the Odo if the fuel guage didn't work. There is an orange light that illuminates when I turn the ignition key, but I went thru my first tank and the light never came on when it got low. I ran it out of gas.... There is not a reserve on this model, so that takes away another option. And last, the big ol fuel tank that you see is fake. The fuel tank is actually under the seat, and I can't look into it to see the fuel level. A replacement speedo is hard to find, and almost what I paid for the bike. I am definitely not mechanically inclined, or made of money, so WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS? Aftermarket fuel gauge? Are they hard to install? I think this is gonna suck. Any other ideas? Thanks for any advice.

Try some of the Suzuki Intruder owners groups and forums. They often have bikes being sold for parts and can be cheaper that buying from dealers and parts stores.
There are some companies out there that can service these displays or replace the LCD section only. You would have to seriously research these companies before you have any work like this done.
So basically... A brand new unit from a dealer. An aftermarket unit from and auto parts store. A used part from a bike dismantler or an owner breaking a bike for parts. Finding an LCD Specialist to strip and rebuild the LCD display.

All guages stopped working

MOST probably just a loose connector - remove the meter and fuel inlet cover (center chrome with speedometer in it) and reach under the front of it - unplug and replug the connector. It has a small clip you need to squeeze to unplug it. If the clip didn't catch, the connector might have just fallen off.
