Kick start seized

IF YOUR KICKSTART HAS SEIZED AND IT WON'T TILT BACK IN THE PROBLEMS ON THE SHAFT (REMOVE THE DOMED ALAN CAP BOLT THEN REMOVE THE ACTUAL KICKSTART AND CLEAN UP THE SHAFT AND INSIDE DIA OF THE KICKSTART AND LUBE IT BEFORE REFITTING, MIND YOU DON'T LOSE THE SPRING AND BALL). IF ITS SEIZES WHEN YOU KICK THE KICKSTART THEN ITS THE KICKSTART GEAR OR BUSH IN THE SIDE COVER THATS THE PROBLEM. ITS EASY ENOUGH TO CHANGE IF YOU HAVE THE TOOLS FOR THE JOB. IF ITS A DIRT BIKE TRY TO PRESSURE WASH IT THEN SPRAY WITH WD-40 IT MIGHT HELP. GOOD LUCK IF YOU NEED HELP WITH STRIPPING IT DOWN JUST LET ME KNOW (ALSO LET ME KNOW IF ITS A LEFT OR RIGHT SIDE KICKSTART)

1975 honda 754 kick starter froze how do i unfreze ?

before you run to the shop with your hat in your hand and your wallet out as if you were going to catch rainwater to drink-put the bike into a mid or high gear and rock the bike backwards a few times. Sometimes the gear teeth climb up on each other and the spring doesn't have the 'oomph' to separate the kickstart teeth from the crank teeth. If you hear a sound like a screen door spring being played-then you're probably back in business. It may take a few times to dis-engage the kicker if this is what happened. Usually this jamming occurs when the rider jacks down on the kickstarter rapidly. Speaking from experience on a Honda 450 twin-cam. Good luck!

Hi, i am sorry but you dont say what the model of your machine is, this would help me determing the correct, answers for your questions, most kickstart springs can be changed by simply removing the clutch cover followed by the kickstarter shaft and then replacing the spring, make a note of kickstart stop location carefully remove the shaft holding the gears together replace the spring followed by the. Replacing the shaft and tensioning the spring before cover replacment, oil, etc. Some machines the shaft and spring is inside the centre cases and a complete engine strip is ness

I just bought an 1987 Yamaha TT350 dirtbike. is it a 2 cycle and how do i change the kickstart shaft

Hi, a yamaha TT350 actually has a 4 stroke engine. To replace the kick starter shaft, You need to remove the crankcase cover on the kick starter side of the engine..
The clutch basket etc will then have to be removed. '
You then use a set of needle nose pliers to unhook the kickstarter return spring from its post in the crankcase.
Release the return spring and allow it to relax. Then rotate the kickstarter assembly counterclockwise by hand , and remove the shaft assembly from the crankcase. Reverse this process to refit.
You can buy cheap workshop manuals for the yamaha XT/TT 350 models. Clymer manuals make them, there are usually good second hand ones on ebay etc,
the XT/TT350 workshop manual number is
M480-3.
These workshop manuals are a "must have" when working on bikes or cars etc, and by following a manual, at least you'll know that the job has been done safely and 100% correctly.

Kick starter failure honda xl 250 kickstarter does not turn the engine around as if something has twisted off inside the engine

You will need to remove the right sidecase cover to get to the starter assembly. Once inside, you should be able to see any broken parts. If no gear, shaft, cam or ratchet problems are present, a circlip could be broken or the springs may be weak and need replacing. Chances are the clutch will need to be removed to make repairs to the starter. Please rate my answer.

My 125dt dosent sart or kick sart, the gear inside have a bushing in shafting?or it was broken..

Common cause of kickstarter not engaging(I am guesing that this is your problem) is a broken spring on the kickstart mechanism,or that the kickstart idler gear cerclip has fallen off(this allows the idler gear to move forward on the shaft & thus won't allow the kickstart gear to transfer drive to the clutch hub).Remove clutch cover, put kickstart lever back on shaft spline, activate kickstart lever by hand(easier with sparkplug removed+in neautral)as kickstart lever moves down 90 degrees the gear on the kickstarter mechanism should move out to engage with gear next to it(kickstart idler gear). If the gear on the kickstarter mechanism dosn't move outward it has a broken spring on the kickstart mechanism.replace spring and all should work.(if the spring is broken you need to try find the broken piece with a magnetic pick-up tool as the broken part can cause further damage if not removed)To do this job I highly recommend you first purchase a workshop manual which will guide you through these processes. After all a manual is the most valuable tool in your tool kit.
