I have rattle problem with my BMW R1200 Montauk motorcycle. It sounds fine on starting from cold but once engine gets hot a rattle develops. Williams BMW Manchester have suggested it could be exhaust...

I have seen a few of the R1200C bikes with this rattle.... There is a cat. converter in the exhaust system and it sits between the pipes approx. under the transmission. This is the usual cause of the rattle.

Warm the bike up by riding it around for a while, then stop the engine and use a plastic face or rubber hammer to tap on the exhaust system in the area near the transmission to see if you can hear a rattle or something loose in the exhaust. This should give you some idea where the source of the rattle is.

There is no easy fix for this problem except replacement of the offending parts.

Orange warning light

Could be anything from a low fuel indicator to a bad sensor to a preset hourmeter to tell the owner when it's service time to the self destruct button... You need to pop for a good service manual for your bike. An owners manual will tell you about this light (probably), but it's no good for anything more involved. Do you and your bike a favor and get a service manual. It will be the best money you ever spent on maintenance. It will save you money in the long run. Plus there is alot of good info in there about everything from changing oil to setting the suspension. Sorry I can't tell you what your light means
