Hi and welcome to FixYa,

With the indulgence of DickCanFixIt...

Almost always, in instances such as you have described, the main 30Amps fuse of the 93 CB750 (F2P Retro) would have blown. The main fuse is located along with the starter relay. To locate the starter relay, follow the + cable from the battery terminal.

Additionally, once power has been restored, you may want to check the regulator and CDI as they are electronic and therefore prone to damage on reverse polarity.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: 1983 Honda Nighthawk 650 stopped starting

Sounds like the starter solenoid went bad. Turn the key on, Make sure it in N. Take a screwdriver and jump the terminals on the solenoid and see if it turns the starter over and starts the bike. If it does then the solenoid needs replaced.

this happened to me, and the key would come out when it was in the on position. turns out the pins were worn inside the ignition switch and it just needed to be replaced

Nighthawk 700S & 750S

soory about your trouble but it sounds like the yoke inside the starter itself is not engaging. If you know how or know someone that could take the starter apart and try to grease the yoke shaft so it can slide freely back and forth it should do the trick.

How do you unplug an ignition switch on a 1984 honda 650 nighthawk Ineed to pull it to take it in and have a key made.

you are going to haveto trace the line into the bike and unclip it from the harness. after that you are going to have to remove it from the mount and then you are done.
