Question about 2006 KTM 525 EXC Racing
Damaged trip computer/speedometer circuit board with mounting screw too long. red/brown wires adjacent to each other on circuit board with insulation damage. separated wires and applied ATV silicone. No display on trip computer, computer battery previously good. Starter, battery on bike good, (recently ridden, running good). Will not start with kick-start, flickering speedometer/odometer display when attempting kick start. Please advise
Hi, Mark and the usual suspects are:
1. Contaminated or faulty speed sensor.
2. Faulty turn signal module.
3. Corroded, broken or loose connector pins/sockets in the wire harness between the speedometer and the ECM or TSSM and the sensor.
4. The speedometer unit has failed.
5. Speedometer instrument fuse has blown.

Sounds like a bad button to me. Put an ohmmeter on it and see if you get continuity in the wires when the button is pressed, and no continuity when you release the button. If the button is ok then you have a bad connection somewhere between the button and the starter. Check inside the headlight housing.
Please rate this solution as a " FixYa " if able. Thanks!
