Noisy volume or balance pot. can't determine which. At any rate is is annoying when I am in quad heaven enjoying Dark Side of the Moon in quad and I get a channel dropping out. Started in the right rear channel now all channels are effected at different times. Tapping on the pots helps sometimes but as yet I cannot determine what works when. Took it apart to try cleaning the pots but found that the components are so ''packed in'' that accessibility was a problem without taking the unit apart any further. Any suggestions? Can you recommend a shop in the Los Angeles area that works on Quad equipment without charging an arm and a leg? Glad I found this site.

Guitar amp? whining noise regardless of connections or volume settings?

Several possibilities (i have experienced all):
  1. 120V.AC line noise. Try moving to a new receptacle in a different room or breaker. Try a In line AC filter (like a Furman power filter/conditioner)
  2. RF interference. Plug in a different core and guitar to isolate.
  3. Guitar wiring. Bad ground internally or pot (volume) became ungrounded.
  4. Defective amp preamp section. Pot or transistor.

I would like lyrics to I want to strool over Heaven with you.

"I Want To Stroll Over Heaven With You" by Alan Jackson

If I survey all the good things that come to me from above
If I count all the blessings from the storehouse of love
I'd simply ask for the favor of him beyond mortal king
And I'm sure he would grant it again
I want to stroll over Heaven with you some glad day
When all our troubles and heartaches are vanished away
Then we'll enjoy the beauty where all things are new
I want to stroll over Heaven with you

So many places of beauty we long to see here below
But time and treasures have kept us from making plans as you know
But come the morning of rapture together we'll stand a new
While I stroll over Heaven with you
I want to stroll over Heaven with you some glad day
When all our troubles and heartaches are vanished away
Then we'll enjoy the beauty where all things are new
I want to stroll over Heaven with you

Do I need to clean my noisy FV500L pedals or is there a less intrusive fix?

I suggest a shot of DeOxit 5 into the pots to clean them up. If not, replace thepots.

Does the dark moon rise on the south side of the bay

No, sorry. The mean inclination of the lunar orbit relative to the ecliptic plane is merely 5.145 degrees. Just like the sun it rises in general eastern direction and sets in western direction, it will not touch the horizon in the south or north of any location on earth.

This result is independent of the moon phase which is solely determined by sun, moon and earth's relative positioning. The dark (or new moon) is simply not illuminated by the sun on the section visible from earth but still rises in the east.

I have the LR baggs Element Active VTC in my Seagull. It works fine, except when I plug it into the PA system at church. There is a windy, rumbling-type sound that happens whenever the volume knob is...

In the first place you CANNOT connect your guitar directely to the snake ! You must use a DI box to convert the unbalanced output of the Baggs to balanced (differential) drive to the snake using either XLR or TRS cable. The DI should be driven as a HIGH impedance in and using "ground lift".

If the pots are noisy, lube sparingly with CRC 226 available in the electrical dept of Home Depot in a spray can with spout for about $2.70. Spray using the spout into the side where the leads go into the pot.

The volume pot is overly sensitive because you are overdriving the mixer at the other end. The trim on that channel of the mixer probably has to be reduced as well.

Replacing the volume pot on a Gibson ES335.The best method for getting the old pot out of the guitar to enable it to be unsoldered and the new item to be soldered in it's place and put back into the...

If the volume pot is scratchy noisy, FIRST try squirting a bit of CRC226 into the pot. CRC226 is available at Home Depot in the electrical department. There are other CRC products there so be sure to get the 226 type. About $2.75 a can.

The product is also good to use in slide pots on mixers. Use sparingly, it doesn't take much. For rotary pots you often can use the spout to spray into the slot where the terminals go into the pot.

Output jack

Have you tried another cable between amp and guitar? Usually the cable goes bad first. Have you tried another amp or possibly tried another guitar on your rig? If this still indicates that your guitar's Standard 1/4" TS Jack is noisy, remove the oval cover over the jack and check the solder joints for the wiring. Follow the wires back to the tone and volume pots and check those solder joints. If everything is secure...Plug in, power up and check for noise while turning the volume pots stop to stop. If the pots make a scratching noise, shut down rig and unplug the guitar. Get a can of spray contact cleaner with a small extension tube (available at electronic shops) to spray in the pots while turning them. (May have to remove pots fom the guitar to get at small openings on side of pot can.) Spray jack and test for noise. Jack STILL
noisy...If you can solder...unwire old jack, remove from guitar, take to electronic shop, match to Standard 1/4" TS Jack, install in guitar, resolder wire connections and test. If you cannot solder...take guitar to
a reputable shop or dealer that does this repair. Good Luck! P.S. The
spray contact cleaner can be used on the amp jack, pots and switches
too...just make sure the amp is unplugged from the power supply before
doing any spraying.

Sony TA-AX301 Amp looses left speakers

many times this problem is the result of dust and or dirt that has collected in your control pots.ie.volume,balance etc....the solution is usually to take the amp apart to get to the pots and clean them out with tuners cleaner or some such product...a quick fix would be to rapidly move the knobs side to side or press the buttons or toggle the switches as fast as you can in hopes of clearing some of the particles from the affected area...
