apparently, it is 'FI' not F1 and stands for Fault Identification. It is the same as the engine light on a car. A code scanner, or 'Dealer Mode' tells the fault.
Pput your bike in dealer mode (search "dealer mode"), FI Not F1, means Fault Indication. This is your ECM telling you there is something wrong. Dealer mode will give you a code, ie. C46 = EXCVA malfunction. When you get the code, we can help you, without the code it's all guess work, just like Mickking just did. If the FI goes away, put it in dealer mode and ride it around, it will most likely come back and will be displayed right there in front your face.
That is normal, it is to warn you that the engine is overheating. These motorcycle engines operate at high temperatures when driven at slow speeds (city driving). They are meant for speed, the air flow helps keep them cooler.
That is the Suzuki equivalent to a "Check engine light"
Turn your key on and verify the FI light is on and that your red kill switch is set to 'Run'
Remove your seat and behind the battery area you should find a white 6 pin connector (likely with a black rubber boot on it) Using a paperclip connect the white/red striped wire to the black/white striped wire.
Your display should Now read whatever codes are active. If it reads C00- then there are no active codes. Note that when you turn the key off, the memory is erased so if you have an intermittent fault you should not turn the key off until you pull the codes.
Codes are as follows:
C11 - CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR C12 - CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR C13 - INTAKE AIR PRESSURE SENSOR
C14 - THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR
C15 - ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR
C21 - INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR
C22 - ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE SENSOR
C23 - TIPOVER SENSOR
C24 - IGNITION SIGNAL #1
C25 - IGNITION SIGNAL #2
C26 - IGNITION SIGNAL #3
C27 - IGNITION SIGNAL #4
C28 - SECONDARY THROTTLE VALVE ACTUATOR
C29 - SECONDARY THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR
C30 - SECONDARY THROTTLE CONTROL UNIT
C31 - GEAR POSITION SENSOR
C32 - INJECTOR SIGNAL #1
C33 - INJECTOR SIGNAL #2
C34 - INJECTOR SIGNAL #3
C35 - INJECTOR SIGNAL #4 C36 - SECONDARY INJECTOR SIGNAL #1
C37 - SECONDARY INJECTOR SIGNAL #2
C38 - SECONDARY INJECTOR SIGNAL #3
C39 - SECONDARY INJECTOR SIGNAL #4
C41 - FUEL PUMP CONTROL SYSTEM
C42 - IGNITION SWITCH SIGNAL
C46 - EXHAUST CONTROL VALVE ACTUATOR C49 - PAIR CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE C60 COOLING FAN CONTROL SYSTEM
blinking red light means critical error check your oil if you have oil in the motor check the sensor on the oil pan! good luck! had the same problem wire was bear making contact at bottom near oil pan good luck!
The FI light is letting you know there is a problem with the Fuel Injection system on the bike. You will most likely need to take it to the dealer and have them diagnose it with their computer. You can check your fuses and make sure they are intact, but most likely dealership problem.
It sounds like the tilt cut off may be to blame. If you put the bike into self diagnosis mode it will give you a code. This code can be checked and the offending sensor replaced. The tilt sensor in the tail piece is one sensor that turns the fuel pump off and so stops the engine.
