1986 honda spree starter won't engage? Horn & rear brake light work, no head lite, hi or low, no turn signals, electric starter not working. Kick starter gives a spark to plug. Has not run in a couple of years. New battery @
SOURCE: changed battery real cranky no start
check the fuses and circuit breakers near battery i'll bet one of them popped.

SOURCE: 1986 F150 Brake Lights don't work.
i would look at your brake light switch if you say all the fuses are good.look above where you put your foot on the pedal you should see a switch on a bracket so that when the pedal is pressed the plunger on the switch moves out and makes the lights come on. link the cables together that go on the switch and the brake lights should come on. if they dont check at the switch to make sure that one of those cables is live, the other one should go to the lights at the back. hope this helps.

The problem is that the tail lights, light bulbs get too hot and melt the plastic where the bulb socket goes into the lens assembly. On the lens assembly you will see one to three metal tabs where the socket fits into. Lift up the tab a little bit with a screw driver and place a small amount of either metal or plastic underneath the tab so it will get a good connection. It will fix the problem.

spray contact cleaner on the switch and with the brake lever removed push your finger on the switch and work it .On mine I twisted the switch a little with my finger while the switch was pushed in and got it working.fine
