I have a 2001 yzf 426 that has a front fork leak after being tied down in bed of truck. Only the left side leaks. They do not leak if the bike is sitting but oil will show up on the fork even with the smallest movement.
Each fork has an outer dust seal, and an inner seal inside of that. Dirt gets between the seal lip and the fork slider and causes the oil to escape. The fix is to have them (Both sides) replaced. You need a fork seal driver tool (Size specific for the size of the fork) and something to measure out the oil amount. It's not an easy job, if you have never done it. Also... if the oil has never been changed, it's due.
If you ride hard in muddy or dusty conditions you will often get particulates under the dust and oil seals as they wipe the fork clean.
Before replacing try to clean them out with a thin piece of plastic. I use photo film, work the corner up under the seal and try to scrape out any dirt.
If that doesn't work then replace the seals. Like the guy above said, not easy, if you've never done it before. You can make a seal driver out of PVC pipe instead of buying the special tool.
